Staying positive isn’t always an easy thing. Trust me, I’ve had my share of negativity in the past and especially in the past year. But the best thing you can do, no matter how dark things can get, is to try and find happiness and positivity in the small things in life. Small things that you may not necessarily notice straight away, but that do make you realize how lucky you are to be who you are.
1.) Getting back to work
Let’s start with the most important one. These past few weeks I’ve been back at work in a new job again and it’s the best feeling in the world. I’m doing something fun and productive and it’s great to notice that I still have plenty to bring to the table.
2.) Getting spontaneous messages that you are welcome to stay over
Out of the blue messages from friends inviting you over is a great thing. I know that some time in the next couple of months I will be planning a trip to England to see my friend, do fun things and quite possibly go shopping.
3.) Taking hundreds of pictures for future blog posts
Over the summer months I spent quite a bit of time on my blog. My main goal: make sure I have a database of future blog posts so I can keep this thing going even though I am working a 32 hour teaching job. If I add up all the posts I have prepared I could keep going until Christmas with daily posts and still not be done.
Just summer. Period. The sunshine (even though it is no where to be seen these days), the warmer temperatures, the lazy days, the get togethers with friend and family… It’s what makes summer one of my favorite times of the year.
Ties in with no. 2, but this doesn’t mean planning to go, but to actually go. My most recent train journey across Europe being the first thing that comes to mind. I have so many ideas for trips I want to go on: London with my best friend, Rome, and hopefully next summer, going back to the good ole US of A.
6.) Scrolling through old blog posts
Another thing I did over summer is read old blog posts. Next Thursday my blog will celebrate its 4th anniversary and let me tell you: this blog has come a long way since then. It’s great to see how much my blog has changed for the better.
7.) Getting organized
I’ve been on an organization binge again lately. Just last week I cleaned up my nail polish collection (only to add some more straightaway, oops), my make up collection AND my sock drawer. Next stop?! My wardrobe!! But I’ll wait until fall to do that, so it makes sense for the great seasonal change.
8.) Great conversations
… with great people. Especially when they just happen out of nowhere. Always a good thing to find like-minded people in unexpected places or to find out more about people you thought you knew very well.
9.) Sleeping in
Now that I’m back at work I am very much appreciating a good lie in again. Only problem is my days are off to an early start hence my lie ins are also a little bit shorter. Granted I go to bed earlier so I still get plenty of sleep, but nothing beats a good snooze on a lazy Sunday.
10.) Vegging out on the couch with TV series of your choice
Talking about being lazy. Right now, after work, I’ve totally found myself lying on the couch watching CSI episodes again. Just some brainless entertainment to unwind after a long day. Guess what I’ll be doing right after finishing writing this blog post?
What are your happy moments?
