FOTD: Smudgy blues (drugstore)

Occasionally I whip out my make up at 6 AM, right before I’m heading for work and I create a make up look I really really like. One such looks, is the one I am sharing with you today. I recreated it a few days later when I had more time and, not unimportantly, when there was enough daylight to take pictures. I ended up using only drugstore products to create this look too. So I hope you enjoy and have a great week!

This look combines a few techniques and products that I have really started to enjoy. First of all, I’ve become a huge fan of a light shade on the first half of my lid, with a darker shade on the outer half and in my crease. The petrol blue color I’ve used is becoming one of my faves. It helps of course that I have an eyeshadow, eye pencil and eyeliner pen all in that same color.

The second thing I’ve started to enjoy are rosy, flushed cheeks. I make that happen by applying a poppy red or bright red blush onto the apples of my cheeks mostly. It makes for a subtle yet pretty cheek color. I find it picks up my entire look. If applied subtly it can go with anything and everything and I find it goes nicely with my blonde hair.

Because I went with a darker eye look, I went with a neutral lip. This Rimmel Kate lipstick in 101 is one of my favorites. I love how long it lasts and I got it on sale, so it wasn’t too expensive. The eyeliner I used for this is a blue pen liquid liner that I bought in Prague last summer. I had yet to use it, and thought it would go nicely with this. I was surprised at how easy it was to use. I am dreadful at liquid liner, but this made for a nice and thing line that went on precise enough and I love the dark blue color.

  1. Hele mooie look! Je basis ziet er ook echt heel mooi dewy uit, moet toch maar eens naar de catrice velvet foundation gaan kijken ☺️

  2. […] From most expensive to cheapest product. Rival de Loop is a German drugstore brand that I found out about last year. When I visited a friend in Frankfurt, I did a spot of shopping an decided to try a few of their products. One of those products was this blush. It isn’t technically a red-red, but it is a pinky red which really makes for a healthy complexion. Its name couldn’t have been more apt as the shade is truly like the inside of a pink grapefruit. This is a very buildable blush and can be applied subtly or more intense. I am wearing it on my cheeks here. […]

  3. […] One of my favorite all time drugstore blushes is this one by Rival de Loop Young. Since I picked this up in Berlin almost 2 years ago and that being the last time I visited Germany, I have no clue whether you can still get your hands on this. If you can, make sure you get it. This is the best pinky reddish flush for that fresh I-just-pinched-my-cheeks type of look. As if you just came in from the cold after a long walk in the snow, as demonstrated in this blog post. […]
