Bumble & Bumble hair care minis

Haircare brand Bumble & Bumble seems to be loved by many people, but I hadn’t yet tried any of their products yet. Sephora just so happened to sell minis of almost every product in their line and so I picked up a few to try some out and see how I get on with them. I will be giving you my opinion about the Bumble & Bumble Spray de Mode hairspray, Thickening Dryspun Finish texturizing spray, Prêt-à-Powder dry shampoo, and Don’t Blow It (h)air Styler.

The minis are a good way to try out some of their range and I only bought some styling products. There are no ‘on’ pictures in this blog post as I changed up my haircut ever since I bought these and my hair needs to be a bit longer for these to work in my hair. I did try them out before I cut them out and I can already say that I like these. What I don’t like is the price tag: these are some expensive products. Each mini cost between 11 & 15 dollars: half the price of the full size product. But if they are good products I am willing to shell out the money for it. Let’s have a closer look.

Bumble & Bumble Spray de Mode hairspray

I bought this hairspray during my trip as my hair would go limp without it. Unfortunately the hairspray I used back home was too big to carry, but when I saw this hairspray with a similar claim to it as the one I was already using, I decided to pick it up. It is supposed to be a hairspray that remains flexible and workable despite it giving some hold as well.

The bottle comes with some instructions and a list of ingredients. I like hairsprays that don’t give my hair that crunchy feeling and that was what I was looking for with this hairspray. Since I have naturally wavy hair, I find it important that any hair product I use, does not weigh down my hair and in the case of a hairspray that it locks in the waves without them looking dry and frizzy.

The Spray de Mode comes with a good spray nozzle that is easy to use. The hairspray itself has a slightly sweet scent, but it still has a bit of that typical hairspray smell. I found this worked great, given the fact that I mostly used this in the middle of summer in quite humid conditions. I am saving it as a carry-on hairspray so I always have a handy-sized spray on hard to take with me on the go. No more lugging around with larger cans of hairspray.

Bumble & Bumble Thickening Dryspun Finish texturizing spray

I was naturally curious about their texturizing spray. Viviannadoesmakeup on Youtube was raving about this product not too long ago and that really made me want to try it. It is supposed to create lift, hold and texture. My overall experience with texturizing sprays such as sea salt sprays and the like haven’t been all that pleasant, but I still wanted to give this a whirl.

Again instructions and ingredients. The reason why I was curious, but remained skeptical until first try, is the fact that I have quite dry hair and most dry shampoos and texturizes will make it even drier than it already ease. The result coupe-de-poof with lots of frizz. Not a great look. I want the volume and the texture but without the frizz.

Like Spray de Mode, Thickening Dryspun Finish this comes with a handy nozzle. This products smells very sweet, but again that masks the spray scent quite nicely. On my dry hair this is a little too much of a good thing, but it is the best texturizes I have found so far. I am keeping this on hand for days when I want to create a good, instant layer of grit in my hair, but this won’t be a regular thing.

Bumble & Bumble Prêt-à-Powder dry shampoo

Because I was eyeing up the Thickening Dryspun Finish, the lady at Sephora also recommended this Prêt-à-Powder. According to her, this would be better for my hair than the spray, yet give a similar effect. It is a dry shampoo but it should also add volume at the same time and it’s better for people who have dry hair like me.

Instructions & ingredients. What else is new? The one thing that has me a bit worried about this product is the fact that it comes in a bottle. You are supposed to shake out the product onto your roots and then massage it in. I am a bit of a chicken when it comes to these type of products. I am always scared I drop it and spill the powder everywhere.

Like the other two products this powder has a very sweet smell to it. I actually quite like it. It’s not bubble gum sweet, but more like fresh sweet, if that makes sense. The powder is extremely fine milled and it disappears in my blonde hair without a trace. On its own this does feel a lot nicer, yet still gives volume, as the Dryspun Finish. However, for a real piece-de-resistance I have found that combining the Dryspun Finish with the Prêt-à-Powder gives me the most amazing volume and lift.

Bumble & Bumble Don’t Blow It (h)air Styler

This product was highlighted at Sephora on one of the displays you see when you first walk into the store. I had passed by it, eyed it up, but had decided that at 33 dollars, the full size might have to wait for a bit. And then I found the mini. What this does is to help your hair air dry in a nicer way. You simply apply this to towel dry hair and you are good to go.

More instructions and ingredients. What intrigued me about this most is that in the blurb from Sephora it said that this would be extra great for people with wavy hair. And that would be me. I struggle finding products that don’t weigh down my hair or make it look greasy but still give it a bit more of a styled look that takes away the frizz.

This Don’t Blow It (h)air Styler comes in a squeezy tube that is again easy to use. The product is a white gel like substance and you only need a little bit to make this work. I find it truly adds the finishing touch to my hair before I let it dry. Ever since I have been using this, I find my hair looks healthier and less frizzy, yet it maintains the waves and it doesn’t feel like I have used any hair products.

Of these four products I would definitely buy a full size of the Don’t Blow It. The other products are nice, but I feel there are products out there that give me a similar effect that are cheaper, easier to get a hold of or that simply work better for my hair. I will definitely be keeping the minis though, as I do really like these products and they will make a great addition to my overnight travel bag.

Could you recommend any other Bumble & Bumble products?
