Flormar lipsticks

A review that has been pending for too long is a review of some Flormar lipsticks. This Turkish make up brand opened a shop in Amsterdam quite some time ago and to try out some of their products, I bought some of their lipsticks. I bought three from two different lines: Supermatte and Deluxe Cashmere. Sounds promising right? I put them to the test, let’s have a look!

At the affordable price point of €4 – €5, these lipsticks could potentially be hidden gems in the make up world. I read a few reviews here and there and based on that I was quite hype up to try some of these. Many bloggers were raving about Flormar products, especially their lipsticks and so my hopes were high.

Without beating about the bush, one reason why I kept putting off this review, was because I couldn’t get into these. No matter how much I tried them, they ended up at the back of my stash after a few uses and since then I have decluttered these from my collection. I still wanted to write about them though, as I wanted to explain why I didn’t like these. I’m not one for posting negative reviews, but if I don’t like a product, I don’t like it and I think that is a valuable thing to read if you’re looking into buying a product.

The Supermatte lipstick I picked up in a classic red shade. I usually enjoy trying a red from a lipstick collection, because a) I like red lipstick and b) it’s even better if it’s matte. Nothing says classy like a red lip. This lipstick unfortunately didn’t do it for me. First there was the smell. This lipstick smelled very artificially, almost chemically.

I don’t care about smell too much so I applied this. The color is absolutely stunning. The texture? Not so much. This was the waxiest, most abominable feeling lipstick I have ever tried. No joke. It was like trying to apply a melted candle to your lips rather than a lipstick. Because of the waxiness of the product this also bled into the fine lines around my mouth and this was just an overall no to me.

On to the reason why this review took so long to be put together. I really tried and really wanted to like DC22 and DC26. These Deluxe Cashmere lipsticks are some of the creamiest lipsticks on the market today. They didn’t smell funky, and they applied like a dream. Moreover, the colors in the range are absolutely stunning and that orange is just to die for. Playing right up into that orange lipstick trend that still seems to be going round. But then why couldn’t I get into them?

Let’s not keep on being to negative first. This lipstick has a lot of plusses: very nourishing and moisturizing, the color pay off is spot on and it feels very comfortable onthe lips. And can we just look at that packaging for a minute? This has to be one of the chicest budget lipsticks out there.

What made me not reach for these in the end? Their staying power and the way they wore off. These lipsticks lasted about one hour tops. I swear that just talking would make them wear off. And since I teach, there is quite a bit of talking going on in a day. Then there is the issue of how patchy these became when they wore off. The Deluxe Cashmere lipsticks are of the type where the center wears off completely, but a very opaque line is left on the outer edge of your lips. Not sexy.

Looking at the swatches these lipsticks look absolutely lovely. Supermatte isn’t super matte though as it still has a bit of sheen to it: that’s the waxiness. The Deluxe Cashmere lipsticks are lovely opaque. You can see they have a lovely cream to satin finish that applies nicely.

Also on the lips, these lipsticks look absolutely lovely. I’d say DC26 is a tad lighter than you might expect and more pinky than a burgundy. The other two shade not only apply very easily, they also look stunning on. It was easy to cover my lips with the product as the lipsticks glide on like butter. The Supermatte in 206 tugs a little on the lips due to the waxiness and it being a ‘matte’ lipstick. Too bad this result lasted only a short hot minute.

And therein lies exactly the problem: the lasting power of all three lipsticks is not that great. It is such a shame, because the colors are absolutely to die for. Especially the red and orange could be recommendations if the formulas wore off in a more charming manner. I simply like my lipsticks to last and when they wear off to simply disappear so it’s easy to reapply them.

The Flormar Supermatte and Deluxe Cashmere lipsticks unfortunately didn’t make it through the test. No matter how much I wanted to love these, they got pushed back further and further until I decided to cut them from my collection. Because there is no use in keeping products that you never wear. Perhaps it’s just my lips and if you’d still like to give these a go than my preference would go out to the Deluxe Cashmere lipsticks as that line has the nicer colors and better formula.

Have you ever tried any Flormar products?
