Dolce & Gabbana Dolce perfume

Truth be told, I don’t remember the last time I bought a perfume. I am quite picky when it comes to the fragrances I wear, but the once I do pick up usually end up being favorites. For spring/ summer, one of my favorites is the Dolce perfume by Dolce & Gabbana. And to my shock I found out that I had taken pictures of this perfume when I first bought it, but I had never written a full review. It’s been nearly 2 years since I bought this perfume, which means I have definitely used it enough to have gotten a good impression of what this perfume is like and when I like to wear it.

Dolce & Gabbana Dolce

Just by looking at the bottle this may not be a perfume you would presume I’d like. But I really really do. I bought this bottle of 50 ml at the airport on a trip to London. That is one tip if you are looking into buying a perfume. If you know you’re about to go traveling: pick up a fragrance at the airport because it will simply save you a bit of cash. Plus you will always have that memory of when you bought it. I still gush over having bought my Chloé, Love Chloé perfume just before I left on a trip to Berlin for instance.

For a bottle of 50 ml such as this you pay €84 in the high street. I honestly can’t remember what it actually cost me at the airport, but I remember it was an airport special so I got a good discount. In a way this may not seem the most ‘Maaike’ type of perfume, but there is just something about that slightly kitsch bottle that drew me into smelling this in store. And once I smelled it, I was hooked.

This is a very floral fragrance with top notes of papaya flower and neroli, amaryllis, narcissus and water lily as its middle notes and amber and cashmeran as its base notes. And that is exactly why I like it. It’s a very feminine perfume, great for the spring/ summer time. It smells fresh, yet floral, but not in a air freshener kind of way. The musk in the base gives it a warm and sexy vibe which is what lingers longest on your skin. It’s just the right middle ground between floral and musky.

The bottle itself is a tad gaudy in my opinion, but something that very much fits the brand and the perfume. The floral design of the cap of the bottle works well with the experience you get from the perfume. The rest of the bottle also ties in with it: despite it having quite a few notes, this perfume doesn’t smell too complicated. Great for an every day or day time scent that you just spritz on for a bit of a pick me up.

On me this perfume last a fairly long time. At the end of a long working day, I may want to spruce it up a bit if I decide to head out on the town after work, but other than that you do smell this pretty much all day long. It feels light and fresh, which is why it is one of my favorites for wearing around this time of year. Still doesn’t beat my signature scent though, which is Balenciaga’s Florabotanica: another fresh, floral fragrance. But a good one if you are looking for a very wearable perfume that can be generally liked by all.

What is your favorite summer scent?
