If you’ve followed me for some time, then you might know that I live in a teeny tiny studio. At only 30 m2, I have to make the most of what I’ve got. Throughout the years, I’ve found a few tricks to use the space as wisely as possible. Of course having a good clean out and getting rid of things or simply not having too much stuff is a good start, but what to do with the items that are left? Today I’m sharing 5 smart storage ideas to make your life just that bit easier.
Kitchen organizer for make up & jewelry
I got this kitchen organizer from Ikea as are most of the storage solutions I will be showing you. I originally bought it to hold my jewelry and accessories. As you can see it still functions most perfectly for that. Now that I have lost interest in wearing excessive amounts of accessories, my make up collection is slowly taking over. I now use part of the spice rack to hold my high end lipsticks.
Drawers are a great way of storing stuff away from sight, but that doesn’t mean that they can’t get messy. I keep most of my beauty products in 2 large drawers in my Ikea Malm. Inside, I have organized the drawers into different categories, using the Skubb drawer organizers. It’s a great way to make divisions and to prevent products from sliding around. Here you see part of my body care as well as my perfume collection.
Nail polish is a difficult thing to store, especially if you have as many as I do. The little bottles easily get lost, slide around and are difficult to keep apart if you do not label them and keep them in a good storage solution. For my nail polish storage, I repurposed some old Ikea organizers that I used to use for organizing my make up. They are perfect for dividing up the drawer of my Helmer. And yes, I labelled each and every Catrice polish I own, just so I can keep them apart.
Do you also struggle keeping track of bobby pins, hair ties and the like? I know I do. I used to be one of those people who bought 3 packs of bobby pins and hair ties every few months only to have them seemingly evaporate into thin air. After buying some Ikea Godmorgon organizers, I didn’t really know what to do with these two small drawer inserts. I tried them in my hair drawer and lo and behold: they fit perfectly and I haven’t lost a hair tie since.
Last but not least, I can highly recommend hanging your clothes from these thin hangers with a velvet like coating. These hangers truly changed my wardrobe organization. Firstly they are narrow which means you can fit much more clothing into the same space. But the main reason why these are perfect, is the fact that these are slip proof. Clothes will no longer slip off a hanger and thus your wardrobe is less messy and easier to keep organized. There’s a reason why I decided to hang all of my tops last year and I haven’t looked back since.
What is your ultimate storage tip?

Ik ben heel slecht in organiseren…haha. Ik wil altijd alles gezellig uitstallen. 😉
