ELF Baked Blush Rich Rose

One of my favorite blush shades for summer is this ELF Baked Blush in Rich Rose. I bought this last year and just hadn’t gotten round to reviewing this just yet. After I bought it, I became instantly obsessed and kept using it for weeks on end. So why do I like this blush so much?

ELF, or Eyes Lips Face, are known for their affordable beauty products. I tried some early on in my make up loving career, but hadn’t tried their stuff in some time. So last year, I decided to take the plunge and buy some of their newer products. At only €5 each this product is super affordable. Only 3 shades are available and this is the darkest shade of the three. The pan contains 6 grams of product.

The Packaging

ELF isn’t known for stellar packaging. What it is however is practical and fuss free. The outer box keeps the product fairly well protected during transportation, while the compact is simple. The clear lid easily shows you what product you’re holding. The only downside to this is that the letters on the lid rub off quite easily and the name of the product is printed on the back on the smallest of stickers.

The Blush

I had heard great things about the ELF baked blushes. But the shade that most people rave about, Pink Tastic, was sold out and most people love that not as a blush, but as a highlight. I wanted to try something so I decided to go for Rich Rose. This baked blush not only looks pretty with the veining, but it is also far less intimidating than what you might expect at first glance.

The Shade

While this blush may look like a very intense brown blush with a hint of red, this is in fact a very neutral rosy shade. I’ve heard that you have to scrape the top off with their baked highlighters to get the full effect, but I haven’t felt the need to do that with this. Yes, the product feels quite hard to the touch, but I personally love the shade this gives.

The Swatch

As you can see this blush is very subtle, yet glowy. I would describe the shade as a brown toned pink: a pretty neutral that is great for everyday, natural make up looks. If you work in an office or are going to school and are looking for a blush that adds a healthy flush to your cheeks, then this is for you. What I love about this is that you can pile it on without looking overdone or like a clown.

The Application

Before | After

It may not look like much, but that is exactly why I love this blush. On my fair skin, some blushes are just way too intense and sometimes I just want something that I can slap on without thinking too much about it. This is that product. I can simply apply as much as I like and the result is always a naturally flushed look. I like how this has a reddish undertone on the cheek: it is my favorite blush shade for summer.

The Conclusion

For a mere €5, I think this ELF Baked Blush in Rich Rose does a good job. Is it the most exciting blush on the market? No it is not. But if you like your make up to look natural and glowy then this blush will give you just that.

What blush do you wear if you want to go for a natural look?

  1. […] ELF Baked Blush Rich Rose – One blush I go back to every summer is this ELF blush. Rich Rose isn’t the shade everyone raves about, but it’s my favorite. This is a subtle blush, but I love wearing this in the summer time as it gives just the right amount of color while adding lots of shine as well. […]

  2. […] ELF Baked Blush Rich Rose – Another affordable blush option that I love is ELF’s Rich Rose. This baked blush is not my favorite in terms of formula: it is a bit dry and not a whole lot comes off. But that is great if you are fair skinned! This is a bronze infused with pink and this is again one that I like wearing in the summer time mostly. It is a simple blush that adds a bit of color but also a lot of sunkissed glow. […]
