Favorite foundations

Foundation was never my favorite makeup product, but lately I’ve been trying some different ones to see what I like. But while trying new stuff is what I love to do, sometimes the old favorites are good to pull out and go back to basics. And I have a few foundations, both drugstore and high end that fit that bill. favorite foundations

One red line that I can see running through each one of my picks is that they are all very light coverage, easy to wear, everyday foundations and bb creams. That is simply what I prefer. My skin doesn’t need super full coverage, but with a few of these you could certainly build up the product and wear it more full on. And what’s more I like using these in different seasons and for different purposes.

Favorite drugstore foundations

L’Oreal Nude Magique Cushion foundation – The cushion hype has pretty much blown over, but I absolutely love this foundation. So much so, that I used one up. It does have less product than a standard foundation, so it is a little bit easier to use up. However, I hardly ever use a foundation consistently for a long enough time to get through one quickly and this I was simply so obsessed with this that I kept going till the last drop.

The Body Shop Tea Tree BB Cream – Technically not a foundation but a BB cream, but I wear this as foundation. The cooling effect makes this a perfect summer time product. I do need it in the lightest shade though as they pull quite dark and there aren’t too many shades either. At less than €10 this is also the most affordable option here.

Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless foundation – Finally a drugstore line that has many different shades and that allowed me to buy a shade that matches me without having to purchase the lightest shade. Since it is light enough, this is something I love wearing in the winter time. That is also when I like a richer formula and a matte finish.

Favorite high end foundations

Bobbi Brown foundation stick – My go to travel foundation is this Bobbi Brown foundation stick. It is handy, easy to pack and you can apply it in a pinch. It has a higher coverage, but sheer out nicely with just a thin layer. But if you want to this can even double as concealer. This is just a great multi-tasker that is good to have if you need to quickly do a full face. Also great for touch ups.

Chanel Vitalumière Aqua – As far as cult favorite foundations go, my Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua is my favorite. This doesn’t get as much hype anymore as it did, but I go back to this every year. The shade it a little dark (yet it’s the lightest one available), which is why I love this at the end of summer/ early fall. It’s that perfect foundation for when your face is still a little tan from summer, yet you do want a bit of coverage to hide the onslaught that is rain and wind.

Dior DiorSkin Nude foundation – An oldie but a goodie is my Dior DiorSkin foundation. I don’t own that many high end foundations, so I rotate them more than my drugstore ones, which is why you may have seen these before. This is one pricey number, but in the dead of winter, when I’m at my palest, this is pretty much the only thing that works. It has a very creamy texture too so I found this works well even if you have dry patches.

  1. I was given the L’Oreal Nude Magique Cushion foundation to try – I haven’t opened it yet. Despite my rant about cushion foundation, I’m going to give it a chance! 😛
Both the Bobbi Brown foundation stick and Chanel Vitalumière Aqua on my list to try soon! I’ve tested them both at the counters and I like how they look / feel.
All my favourite foundations have sadly been discontinued in 2017! Currently, I like the MAC MatchMaster – it has medium coverage and wears really well.

    • Boohoo for the discontinuing of your faves. That sucks so badly. Haven’t looked into MAC products for a while. I am really wanted to try the new Estee Lauder Double Wear Nude foundation, and I am still lusting after the Urban Decay Naked Skin foundation as well as the new TBS Matte foundation.
