Becca Prismatic Amethyst highlighter

The flying saucer highlighters by Becca are not only iconic for their packaging, but also for their insane glow. The shade selection isn’t my favorite, which is why so far I only owned Pearl. I know everyone loves Moonstone for fair skins, but it is too yellow for me. Luckily Becca continues to expand their shade range and I was excited when I saw Prismatic Amethyst.  becca prismatic amethyst highlighter review swatch

Becca highlighters are not cheap. At over €38, these are some of the most expensive highlighters I own. Becca highlighters do have supreme texture as they are super smooth and pack a punch. If you like having a glow that can be seen from space, then Becca is one of the ways to go. However, they are still very expensive and while the shade selection is better than any other highlighter range on the market, you do have to be willing to splurge.

The Packaging

I already mentioned the iconic flying saucer design. If you buy a regular Becca highlighter, the packaging will be black rubber. Prismatic Amethyst comes in more unique packaging which I like, because it makes it much easier to tell this one apart from the one I already own. It not only is more distinctive, the outside also reflects the color of the product inside.

The Highlighter

Inside, the highlighter has an embossed design which is pretty but not necessary. The shade of this highlighter is quite unique. It is an iridescent duochrome lavender. If you have a cool or neutral undertone than this will be a super flattering shade of highlight on you. If you struggle finding a good highlight because they are too dark or too yellow on you, then this is a shade to look into. You might think: ew purple highlight, but as you will be able to see in the pictures below this doesn’t look all that purple.

The Swatch

When I took this picture of the swatch, I was trying to capture the duochrome shift this has. As you can see this has a pink toned base with a lavender shift to it. Lavender, not purple! Which is why this is so much more wearable than it seems.

Becca highlighters have some of the most superb quality of any highlighter I have ever tried and I have tried a fair few. They feel smooth, go on easily and can be built up in intensity. I prefer a lighter touch myself, but if you want to go all in, that is definitely possible.

The Application

Remember I like my highlight quite subtle? This is a good example of course. You could go in with layer after layer of highlight and build this up in intensity. But with just one gentle swipe, this is the general effect. I like how this blends into my skin. As if it is a natural glow that is supposed to be there. Despite the fact that this is a very unusual highlight color, I like how it looks on my skin. I think this is very pretty and not something I have a lot of. I have other duochrome highlighters, but none are this wearable.

The Conclusion

Becca Shimmer Skin Perfector in Prismatic Amethyst has bumped its way up my list of favorite highlighters. It is a great shade for my skin tone and the Becca formula is one of my favorites in terms of highlight. Yes, this is super expensive, but if you are looking for a product to splurge on as there is an amazing discount, or if you have a giftcard or a reason to celebrate: then buying yourself a Becca highlighter will be the ultimate treat.
