If there is one makeup brand I have not tried many products by it is Clinique. I have tried a few of their skincare products though such as the Dramatically Different Lotion and Hydroblur Moisturizer. And so far: what I have tried, I loved of the skincare range. So I figured I should start trying some of their makeup products too. The product I hear most people raving about? Their foundations and thus I decided that would be a good place to start.
Clinique Even Better Glow Light Reflecting Makeup
CN 28 Ivory (VF)
Clinique is of course best known for being a brand that works great when you have sensitive skin, which is why I wanted to try it. This foundation is one of many liquid foundations in Clinique’s range. There are 6 in total and they all bring something different to the skin. I wanted to go with something wearable for everyday and the sales lady recommended this. This foundation retails for €37 depending on where you get it, but I would recommend getting it during a sale or using a gift voucher to a purchase like this.
The packaging of Clinique products is usually very fuss free and that is something I appreciate. The container of this foundation is actually clear, so that color you’re seeing is actually the foundation itself. Easy, since that way you can see exactly how much product you still have left.
So in total, this foundation comes in 20 shades. That is decent but not mindblowing. I have a hard time figuring out what the lightest shade is, but I am thinking this is not the very lightest shade yet. What I appreciate about the range is that it comes in both cool and warm undertones. The CN in the shade name stands for Cool Neutral. VF stands for very fair which is the grouping this shade belongs to.
At first I wasn’t sure which Clinique foundation to get. I picked this because it promised to be a lightweight formula with a glowy finish. That is the type of foundation I usually like best. I was tempted by the Superbalanced and Beyond Perfecting foundations, but the first has just 10 shades available and the other is super high coverage. Both of which are not my cup of tea so I went with this as I feel it best suits my skin needs.
As you can see this is a very dewy foundation and one that also looks very natural on the skin. The wear time on this is also excellent. Most lightweight foundations will usually also wear down a lot quicker, but this is formulated for dry to combination to oily skin, which means this doesn’t break down that easily. I can wear this all day to work and it still looks fine at the end of the day.
The Shade Match
While I was matched at the store, I was afraid this foundation would be a hair too dark for me. But the lady assured me I shouldn’t get this too light and as you can see in this picture, that is absolutely true. It matches my skin nearly perfectly and blended down the neck with a touch of bronzer this looks seamless at my neckline and looks really natural.
Here you can see the before and after picture of this foundation on my face. On the left is my face without any product. On the right is my face with the foundation applied. As you can see this looks really natural. If I hadn’t shown you the before picture I don’t think you’d expected this picture to be the effect. It evens out my skin nicely but it is not super perfect. A look that I love. This is such a stunning look for everyday wear. And you can see here that the foundation is definitely not too dark.
I think this is a great everyday foundation and definitely one of the best foundations I have tried so far. It is longwearing, looks natural and is just a great, easy to wear foundation. Application is easy enough, I prefer a sponge by the way and it blends nicely in with my skin tone. Since there are only 20 shades this is not THE foundation for everyone, but if your shade is there and you like a natural foundation for a light base makeup then this is a good pick.
