Origins Ginzing Moisturizing Cream

The Origins Ginzing line is one of my favorite skincare lines: it’s orange packaging, zingy scent and thin formula has been one that I have been raving about for a while. I first tried their gel moisturizer, which I loved. However, that wasn’t rich enough, but now that my skin felt a bit better I thought I’d repurchase it to try it again. Lo and behold: once I went into the store I found out that since then, Origins has released a richer, more hydrating formula of my beloved moisturizer. So naturally, I had to try.

Origins Ginzing Ultra-Hydrating Energy-Boosting Cream

Needless to say, I spotted this quite randomly in store. One thing I also spotted? That this comes in two different sizes. You can buy this in a 30 ml jar for €14.84, or in a 50 ml jar for €25.24. Not only does the 30 mls make for a great travel option, it is also a great way to try the product before you commit to buying. Since I already knew how much I loved their original moisturizer, I figured I would go with the 50 ml jar straight away.

The Packaging

The Origins’ packaging is quite iconic and stands out easily against other brands in the store. Especially the bright orange of this particular jar. I do have to say though that the packaging is what I like the least about this product. Because this comes in a jar, it means that once opened bacteria can roam freely in and about the product. I would have preferred it, if this came in a tube or even better with a pump. It’s just a bit more hygienic. Additionally, I think that if you own more than one product from this line it can get confusing. All the jars look so much alike!

The Ingredients

I am not an expert on skincare ingredients, but that is a loooong list. I see lots of great stuff: different oils and other extracts are fairly high up the list. It also contains some caffeine, several acids and squalane which all should help energize, plump and hydrate the skin. There is also a lot of abracadabra here. While Origins may seem like an all natural, good-for-you kind of brand, this isn’t exactly true. But hey, if it works, it works right? That’s how I feel about my skincare anyway.

The Moisturizer

On to the moisturizer itself: it looks like your standard white face cream in the jar. Nothing too exciting to see at first glance. But one thing I love about this product is the scent: this smells zesty and citrusy and I think it is part of why I love using this so much in the morning. It feels very refreshing and where the gel cream was nice, I prefer this so much more. The richer texture means this product hydrates my skin so much better. It feels nice, works well under makeup and it sinks in quickly. The only thing I wish it would have? An SPF.

The Swatch

So what does this product look like? Again, ont he skin it doesn’t look that spectacular. It is quite a thick product but not so thick that you have trouble blending this out. This is a very lightweight product despite what it may look like in the picture. When you start blending it into the skin, the watery texture comes to the forefront and you can see why this is a hydrating moisturizer. The final result? Hydrated, moisturized skin that is ready to start the day.

The Conclusion

I will definitely be repurchasing the Origins Ginzing Moisturizing Cream at some point in time. I currently have plenty of other moisturizers to use up though so I won’t be getting it any time soon. This is in my top 5 favorite moisturizers though as I love the feel of this on my skin and ultimately what it does. It makes my skin feel hydrated and nourished and it doesn’t mess with my makeup application. What more could a girl want from her day time moisturizer?

  1. I used this moisturizer religiously for almost two years. I loved it when I did use it. Recently I’ve changed over to scent-free skincare, but I do remember how the smell of this stuff used to brighten my morning each day!

    • Exactly that! I find fragrance free difficult as even natural ingredients can have a scent. I feel it is nearly impossible to find something that is fragrance free AND works well.

      • Cerave! Cerave products are amazing. I found them by watching some videos by a dermatologist on youtube. Check out Dr. Dray on youtube if you’ve never watched her before! She’s very informative.

  2. I got a sample of Origins Ginzing Eye Cream several months ago from Ulta. I liked it and was planning on buying more, but it’s a little pricey. I usually use Retinol under my eyes anyway. But I do remember being impressed by the Origins.
