Lipsticks are some of my favorite products for the summer time. Where I keep my eye and face makeup quite minimal, I love going in with a bright bold lip. It instantly amps up your look and hides the fact that the rest of your makeup didn’t get that much attention. Not only does it add a bright pop of something to your look, it can also be the eyecatching element when all you’re wearing is mascara and maybe a touch of concealer. Because with temperatures like we’re having right now, who needs a full on make up look? With a good lip, you can still steal the show. These are my favorites.
Top 6 Favorite Summer Lipsticks | Kat Von D, YSL, Urban Decay, Catrice, L’Oreal, Milani
For this blog post I have selected 6 different shades: all of them bright, but all of them at different price points. Three of them are high end and three of them are drugstore priced. I have included some different finishes too. Three of these are matte and will not budge, the other three have a more creamy texture, but still work well on the lips. Not all lipsticks featured here may still be available, but I have added swatches below, so you can maybe find shade dupes from other brands. I will be linking to reviews as well if you would like to see these on.
Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick A Go Go – I know, I know. So many people have cancelled Kat Von D for her personal opinions and beliefs, but I believe I should enjoy the products I have if I like them. And A Go Go is one of the most unique lipstick shades in my collection. This is a true, bright orange and I have nothing like it. This dries down matte and works best when paired with a very understated look. This lipstick will definitely steal the show.
YSL Rouge pur Couture Tropical Pink – One of my first every truly bright lipstick purchases was an expensive one, but also one of my best ones. The YSL Rouge Pur Couture formula is one of my favorite luxury lipstick formulas and Tropical Pink is a neon pink to boot. This has a very strong white base and is therefore even brighter than MAC’s Candy Yum Yum. It definitely works best for me if I have a bit of a tan and will look gorgeous if you have a tan to dark skin tone.
Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Tilt – Corals are usually not my favorite, but I make glad exceptions for them in the summer time. Tilt is a more orange toned coral, but it definitely can pull more pink if you pair it with a different liner or a gloss. This has a comfort matte formula meaning this stays put and works great with many different looks.
Catrice Ultimate Colour Kiss Kiss Hibiscus – When swatched next to Tilt these look almost identical, but Kiss Kiss Hibiscus is a more pink toned leaning coral than Tilt. It also has a cream formula. Sadly, Catrice discontinues lipstick shades ever so often so I am not sure whether this is still available. Yet, till this day it remains one of my favorite lip colors for the summer time. It is insanely comfortable to wear and has a stunning popping shade.
L’Oreal Julianne Moore’s Red – This you can no longer get as well and I don’t wear this enough, but I keep it around since it is such a unique red in my collection. Julianne’s Red by L’Oreal is a pink based red without making it a coral. This reminds me of over ripe strawberries in the summer time! The matte finish makes this an instant classic and it works really well with super fair skin tones. Too bad, L’Oreal’s lipstick formula isn’t my favorite: that old grandma smell I could really do without.
Milani Mattellics Liquid Lipstick Automatic Touch – Last but not least another discontinued shade. This looks purple in the tube, but has a strong pink undertone, which makes it a lot more wearable. When I looked into purple lipsticks I found that those kinds of purples really eased me into wearing purple lipsticks. The metallic shine, combined with the matte dry down finish makes this one of the most unique lipstick shades of my collection.
