Shall we have a closer look at another skincare product? Because I am sure on a roll trying out new skincare bits. Today we are taking a look at the Good Molecules Hydrating Face oil. This product comes in the smallest bottle known to man (cute), is very effective and is affordable to boot!
Skincare review: Good Molecules Hydrating Face Oil
Good Molecules was kind enough to send me some of their products last fall to try out. I received a full on care package and this was in there. This is their Ultra-Hydrating facial oil: a product that retails for $10 from Beautylish. Good Molecules is an affordable brand, but I have to say I was a bit disappointed when I first saw how much product you get. This bottle is tiny, which looks cute, but only comes with 13 mls of product. Usually facial oil is something I go through rather quickly, so I was curious to see how long this would last.
What does the Good Molecules facial oil do?

Before we answer that question, let’s have a closer look at this product. As any skincare product does, this comes with a shlew of promises. This facial oil should nourish, hydrate and protect you skin while relieving dryness and dehydration. That sounds like a bold statement to make. However, despite your initial thoughts, face oil is the best way to go if you wish to deeply nourish the skin. It may seem counter-intuitive because would this not clog up your pores? But I have found that face oil is the way to go to make my skin feel plump and hydrated.
What are the benefits of this face oil?

Let’s start with the packaging first: it comes in the cutest little bottle. Most face oils I have tried comes in 30 mls bottles. This bottle contains less than half of that amount. The packaging is equiped with a dropper that is also teeny tiny. But here is where the real kicker is: you only need a little bit to cover your entire face. I went in with this oil as I normally do the first time I tried it and that was a mistake. I used way too much, so I would recommend only using 2 – 3 drops per area of your face, which makes you use just half a dropper at a time. When I apply this at night it makes my skin feel smooth and soft the next morning and I am finding this potent enough to not have to use it every day now that winter time is over. I love using this after I have taken a shower though when my skin feel dry and tight.
What are the ingredients like?

When it comes to ingredients, this face oil is by far the best one I have tried. Why? It only contains two oils and that’s it. Most skincare products will containg many other ingredients, but not this. What it does contain? Camellia oil and Buckthorn oil. The Camellia oil is the hydrator and anti-oxidant, while the Buckthorn oil provides a protective layer and nourishment. It couldn’t be any simpler than this! The brand recommends applying this to your hands first and then pressing it in, but I found that just wasted product as much of the product ended up on my hands and not on my face. I therefore like using a little less and just use the dropper to ‘drop’ this all over my face. Far more effective and economic use of the product.
What does this product look like?

Because this product does not contain any added fragrance or preservatives, what you get inside is oil. Straight up oil. Which is why I use this probably every other day instead of everyday because I felt it was a bit much otherwise. When it gets truly cold and dreary out during the winter, this will be a great daily essential for dry and super dry skin types. I would recommend only using it in the night time. As this is a straight up oil, it needs some time to sink it. This does not sit well under makeup! Also, I would recommend applying this a few hours before going to bed. That way the product has time to sink in and it doesn’t all just get soaked up by your pillow.
My final thoughts
The Good Molecules Ultra-Hydrating Facial Oil is one that I am really enjoying. I have been using it since March and have only used about 1/3 of the product so far. It is a simple product that does not aggravate my sensitive skin, while still getting the job done. It is an intense, moisture rich product that I feel I can use every other day during the spring/ summer season. However, come fall/ winter I will definitely use more of this product as it is great for combating dryness.
Would I recommend the Good Molecules Hydrating face oil?
I would recommend it if you have super dry/ dehydrated skin. For people with normal to oily skin this will be far too oily and only help your skin to produce more oil. I have dry skin and already find it quite intense if I use it more regularly now that the weather isn’t super drying for my skin. This is great if your skin is parched and can really use that pick me up. So for most people this may not be a necessary product for their routine.
