Too Faced Love Light Highlighter review

A product that you can still buy from Too Faced but that I have already owned for years? The Too Faced Love Light highlighters! I remember buying this years ago, but this for some reason has not yet been discontinued even though Too Faced has discontinued many of their cheek products over the years. The Love Light highlighter is one that I have low key loved ever since I bought it, but for some reason I just hadn’t gotten around to writing a review yet. So here it is then after all these years: a full review of the Too Faced Love Light highlighter in Ray of Light.

Review: Too Faced Love Light Prismatic Highlighter Ray of Light

The Too Faced Love Light highlighter was released some years ago. I remember shopping for this in a Sephora in 2017, back when Too Faced was very hard to get in The Netherlands. By now the brand is more widely available which is great, as it means I can walk into store to check out the products. Unfortunately for me, the displays in store here aren’t updated as often and it can take up to a year before a new collection reaches my shores. That said, the price point of Too Faced is luckily not marked up. This highlighter retails for €29.06 from Douglas which is the official retailer that stocks Too Faced over here.

What does the highlighter have to offer?

The Love Light highlighter is one that was released right before the hype for the most metallic, most blinding highlighter became a thing. That means this highlighter offers a softer, more easy to wear look, which is great for every day. It is still a nicely reflective highlighter, but not as intense as some of the highlighters we are used to nowadays. This is great if you prefer something a bit more subtle that blends into the skin easily and isn’t too offensive if you go to school or work in an office where super obvious makeup just isn’t a thing.

What is the shade of the highlighter like?

Ray of Light was the first highlighter I bought that wasn’t the lightest shade in a line. Before I bought this, I would always go for the lightest shade, leading me to own very many icy, white or pink highlighter but nothing that really went well with my complexion or offered some variety. When I discovered this, I discovered that a highlighter with a bit more warmth is actually more flattering on me and give that lit from within look without going overboard. It was also my first peachy toned highlighter and as we all know: by now I am obsessed with peach highlighters.

What does this highlighter swatch like?

As you can see here, this highlighter is one that looks quite lightweight and airy on the skin. This doesn’t have a very strong base to it and I feel that’s why this works for me. It just has the prettiest peachy shimmer to it that creates a beautiful shine once applied to the face. I really love how this has that lit from within look that looks great for every occasion, rather than boom, kapow, highlighter. I think this is why this highlighter didn’t get much hype as right around that time the standards for highlighters started to change. So I feel this should have gotten a lot more love from the Beauty community.

What does this highlighter look like applied?

As you can see here, the highlighter looks very pretty on the face. It has a sheen that is noticeable but nothing too in your face. The warmth of the highlighter makes this pair very well with peachy toned blushes as they just blend together seamlessly. I have been wearing this loads with my favorite Tarte blush in Achiote and I think that is just the perfect little combo. What I love about this highlighter is that I can just whack this on and it never looks overdone or too much. It just works and it goes with many different looks.

My final thoughts

I think the Too Faced Love Light Highlighter is one that deserves more hype. It is a bit standard but it is also very pretty on. It just is a formula that I think many people might enjoy. Truth be told, I have been on the verge of decluttering this several times, but I always decide to keep it in the end and I am never sorry about it. Whenever I go back to this, I end up really liking it and I am happy I finally managed to review this lovely product for you. Not a product that wowed me, but definitely more of a slow burner and we don’t pay enough attention to those in the beauty community if you ask me.

Would I recommend the Too Faced Love Light highlighter?

Yes I think this would suit many people. If you have more mature skin and have some more texture in your skin, this product will be right up your street. It comes in two more shades so if the peach isn’t your cup of tea you can try one of the other shades and I feel this texture is just a classic. I know this is a highlighter that will get to stay for quite some time and I hope Too Faced keeps it around in their line for some time to come.

What is a product you didn’t notice much at first but ended up loving anyway?
