Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder foundation review

In this review we are taking a closer look at the Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder foundation. When I decided I wanted to do a full face of Charlotte Tilbury, one of the items I still had to buy was a foundation. Now, most of the foundation in the CT line are quite medium to full coverage and matte, so I had never been too interested in anything base wise. That was until I went to the counter and found out the brand also did a lightweight foundation that seemed much more up my street. So I decided to try it and today we are doing the full review.

Review: Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder foundation 2 Fair

Since Charlotte Tilbury isn’t a very affordable brand, I definitely didn’t buy all my products in one go. It’s a bit too pricey for that. I started slowly, years ago, with a lipstick or two and then I built up my collection ever so slowly. The foundation was one of the last bits I added and at €40 it is one of the pricier foundations I own. But if the foundation is a good one, I don’t mind the price point. What I look for in a foundation is that it is lightweight, dewy, natural and just enough to cover up my redness. I’d like it to be longwearing enough but I don’t mind it if my makeup ends up looking a little bit more glowy throughout the day.

What does this foundation have to offer?

The Light Wonder foundation is a lightweight foundation. It is officially called the Light Wonder Youth Boosting Perfect Skin foundation SPF15. It comes in 12 shades and contains 40 mls of product which is more than your standard amount for most foundations. It comes in a simple plastic bottle but very much looks like it is on brand for the Charlotte Tilbury line with rose gold and burgundy accents. The bottle is a squeezy tube meaning it is super easy to use and great for travel.

What does this foundation swatch like?

The shade I got was 2 Fair and it blends into my skin beautifully. The foundation has a lightweight, quite watery texture that blends easily into the skin and once blended in what you’re left with is a beautifully slightly dewy finish that looks very seamless on the back of my hand. My skin still looks like my skin and it just looks more perfected but without it looking thick or overly makeuppy.

What does this foundation look like applied?

Here you can see a clear before and after of this foundation on my skin. You can clearly see what the coverage is like as the redness in my skin is pretty much gone and yet my skin still looks like my skin. That is exactly what I like in a foundation. This blends in easily and as you can see the finish is glowy but not overly so. I only use one layer of this, but if you want to I feel you can add another layer and get a little bit more coverage if you wish to do so.

What is the shade match like?

Have you ever seen a more perfect shade match? Very often, when I find a foundation that matches my neck exactly it can look a little bit ghostly and pale. This one, matches my neck perfectly, but it doesn’t make me look deadly before the rest of my makeup goes on. And that is one of the reasons why I love this one. This not only looks natural texture wise, but also shade wise and that’s why this foundation gets top marks from me. Wear time wise I also love what this does for me. Yes it starts breaking up eventually, but I feel it never looks too greasy but you still have that glow.

My final thoughts

I am quite smitten with the Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder foundation. This is definitely one I want to go back to to use it up. Because that’s what I do when I love a foundation. I go back to it after using it enough for a review and then I end up using it up and repurchasing it and that is what I intend to do with this eventually. It will be a while because as this comes with more product than most foundations and I still have plenty of other foundations to try and use up before I get to go back to this. But this is great!

Would I recommend the Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder foundation?

Yes! This is a great! With only 12 shades though it may be difficult to find your perfect match. However, with this being lightweight it is a bit more forgiving than more full coverage foundations. Overall, this foundation simply ticks all of the boxes for me and that is a feat because I am quite picky when it comes to foundation.

Have you tried any Charlotte Tilbury foundations?
