Catrice Holiday Skin Luminous bronzer review

Hey! Didn’t you already review this bronzer? Yes I did when it launched last summer, but I bought the darker shade in 020 Off to the Island. It was the only shade in stock and I thought I’d just give it a whirl. I ended up loving it so much that when I found the lighter version in store, which I figured would be much better for me in the winter time, I bought it as well. So this is the review for the lighter version of the Catrice Holiday Skin Luminous bronzer in 010 Summer in the City. I’ve included a comparative swatch so you can see how the two shades compare.

Review: Catrice Holiday Skin Luminous bronzer 010 Summer in the City

Since I already owned this bronzer in a different shade, I knew this would be affordable. (And of course because it is Catrice). At just €3.99 this is one of the most affordable bronzers I have ever tried. The packaging is quite simple but you do get 8 grams of product which is quite generous. And this bronzer I already know has an amazing formula that I love, so for me buying the other shade made total sense because I knew that if the shade was as perfect of a fit as I was hoping it would be, that I would love this as much or possibly even more than the darker shade.

What does this bronzer have to offer?

So what do I love about this bronzer? Well first there is the price point and availability. To me, Catrice is one of the easiest, more affordable brands for me to get a hold of. But what I love about this most is the texture. This formula reminds me so much of the Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer. It is a rich, creamy texture that swatches well, goes on well and doesn’t look muddy. It is apparently enriched with macadamia nut oil, which is why the bronzer has such a creamy texture that feels very smooth and like nutty scent.

Why is this bronzer good?

So I already mentioned that this has a lovely almost creamy texture, yet it is a powder. What I also love about this particular bronzer is the shade. I was right in assuming that this lighter version would be my perfect winter bronzer shade. It has a much lighter shade but it is perfect for me in the colder months when I go snow white pale. Many bronzers don’t work for me in the dead of winter, but this one does. It has a great shade, the same lovely formula and great lasting time and wearability.

How does this bronzer swatch?

For the swatch I figured I’d show the two shade side by side. So on the right you can see the lighter shade 010. On the left is the deeper shade 020. As you can see there is a great difference between the two shades, but I think the deeper shade may still be quite difficult to pull of if you have very deep skin. For me these are a great winter and summer shade. The lighter one even seems to have a bit more of a glow and isn’t as matte as the deeper version which is perfect. I love a bit of a glowy bronzer.

What does this bronzer look like on the skin?

So you could already see in the swatch how light this shade is. Your question may therefore be: does this even show up? Because the swatch looked so light that it was difficult to really capture it well on camera. Here you can see a before and after of the bronzer going on. So the top pictures is my cheek with just foundation and powder. On the bottom picture you can see the bronzer applied. I think you can see that the bronzer adds a nice bit of warmth, isn’t too orange or muddy and looks perfectly blended into the skin. All that at just €3.99!

My final thoughts

I already mentioned it in my recent bronzer collection: now that I own both shades of the Catrice Holiday Skin Luminous bronzer, I actually have no more need for any other bronzers in my makeup collection. That’s how good these are. Of course, I love trying makeup and I have many more favorites but with a perfect winter and a perfect summer shade, I just know that I could make do with these and I’d be happy. These bronzers measure up to many more high end and luxury bronzers I also own and have tried and at this price point that is no ill feat.

Would I recommend the Catrice Holiday Skin bronzer?

Yes I would, but as with many Catrice products I always have to add the disclaimer that you will only be able to use this if the shade is right for you. With just 2 shades available that aren’t all that deep (I mean if I can get away with it….), it may just be difficult to make this bronzer work for you if you have medium-deep skin tone or darker. That said though, if you can find a shade that is right for you, at this price point it really won’t break the bank and it is definitely worth a trial if you are looking fora great, affordable bronzer.
