Some of my favorite lipsticks at the drugstore? The Catrice Power Plumping Gel lipsticks and then shade 030 Speak Up! in particular. Not only is it a shade dupe for Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk, it is also one of the few lipsticks I have ever used up completely. So that is saying something. When I saw the brand release some new shades, in different packaging, as part of their Spring/ Summer 2022 line, I knew: I have to try these out and give them a review.
Review: Catrice Power Plumping Gel Lipstick Flower & Herb Edition
Now before we get to the review, I have to point out that I already swatched these out for you in my first impression Catrice video. But I wanted to have space where I could gather all of my thoughts and since there are only four shades in the line, I felt it didn’t warrant a full, dedicated video. So instead we are doing this old school style in a blog post. These lisptick are affordable at €3.99 but I do find them difficult to source as they only seem to be available from certain retailers. I bought mine from Kosmetik4Less.de.
What do these lipsticks have to offer?

This small capsule collection comes with just four shades: 2 nudes that lean quite pink and two reds that also lean quite pink. It’s a perfect small collection for the spring/ summer season: the formula of these lipsticks is a smooth gel like texture that feels thin yet creamy on the lips. These aren’t the longest lasting lipsticks either. On me, they last a good 4 hours. If you were to wear these to work you will have to touch up around lunch time. I find them very comfortable and especially the nude shades in this range have appealed to me. The brighter shades are trickier to pull off as the formula can slide around a little bit.
What are the shades like?

So there are four shades from top left going clockwise these are: 010 Peony Petal, 020 Magnolia Bouquet, 030 Blooming Orchid and 040 Pomegranate Flower. As you can see, these look quite similar in the bullet. The two nudes do not look that different in their shades, as do the two brights that look nearly identical. It is when you swatch these or wear these that the different undertones come to light. The nudes are essentially both a pink but one that is more warm toned with peach hue to it. The other one is a pink but one with a cooler undertone that leans more mauve. The two shades that look like identical reds are in fact a bright fuchsia pink and a bright reddish leaning coral.
How do these lipsticks swatch?

Here you can clearly see that while these look nearly identical in their pairings, these swatch very differently indeed. All shades are stunning, but as I already mentioned, I would not recommend the bright two shades as they can move around and cause a bit of a mess especially if you are still wearing a face mask. That said, I have worn plenty of the brighter shades in the past and I do feel they leave a bit of a stain once these wear down so they do remain pretty looking even when they disappear. The nudes do require a full touch up as they do have a tendency to fully disappear. Let’s have a look at the individual shades.
Catrice Power Plumping Gel lipstick Flower & Herb Edition 010 Peony Petal

Peony Petal is a pretty shade, but not one I would reach for a lot. I don’t love pinks on myself and this is the kind of pink that I feel only goes with certain looks. Yes it is stunning on and as far as pinks go, I feel this is quite workable. I just know I won’t reach for a shade like this as it is just not one I can slap on and wear on the daily without keeping in my mind what the rest of my makeup look like. If you have a warm undertone though than I think this can be a pretty pinky nude on you.
Catrice Power Plumping Gel lipstick Flower & Herb Edition 020 Magnolia Bouquet

My favorite of the two pinks for myself is Magnolia Bouquet. On me it looks even more purple than it does in the swatch and I feel that adds a pop of vibrancy but without it looking too blue toned. As far as a mauvy pink goes, I really enjoy this shade and I feel it is a touch more unique than most other mauve toned nudes I have tried. This is something I can with many different looks and this is the shade I pulled out for myself to keep using long term. This is so stunning!
Catrice Power Plumping Gel lipstick Flower & Herb Edition 030 Blooming Orchid

On to the bright shades and isn’t this vibrant fuchsia stunning on the lips. I love shades like this in the summer time. It looks very fresh and fun and it reminds me of popsicles or very ripe fresh berries. As I already mentioned I would personally not keep this around in my collection. Because as pretty as it looks on, this won’t last and it can transfer onto your teeth or beyond your lip line a little too easily for my taste. If I wear something this bright, I want it to be a longwearing formula.
Catrice Power Plumping Gel lipstick Flower & Herb Edition 040 Pomegranate Flower

The last shade was perhaps the most disappointing. Not because it is a bad lipstick, but because on the lips it doesn’t look as interesting any more. It just looks like a red that we have seen Catrice do many times over. This lipstick is pretty, it has quite a lot of pink running through it making it a little bit more unique, but this doesn’t hold a candle to some of my other fun bright red lipsticks that I love wearing in the summer time.
My final thoughts
The Catrice Power Plumping Gel lipsticks Flower & Herb Edition are a fun addition to the Power Plumping Gel lipstick line. The shades are a little bit different and I love this formula for a comfortable, everyday wear lipstick. I love how easy these are too apply, the little embossing is cute and overall these are all very pretty shades that look great on me. I personally would only keep one or two of these around, but I think if you were to pick and choose your favorite shades, you’d find yourself with a stunning new lipstick indeed.
Would I recommend the Catrice Power Plumping Gel lipstick Flower & Herb Edition?
Yes most certainly. These are some of my favorite lipsticks at the drugstore and I think this is a stunning line from Catrice. They are simply not just great lipsticks for the price point, but they are great lipsticks period. This is on par with some of my more high end lipsticks so I really love these and I think you may love them too. Give them a whirl if you come across them (also the older range in the black packaging).

I just received my first order from them. Worst customer service ever. I have tried to contact them five times in 3 different ways. My plumbing lipstick was broken, and the base foundation is like water because it got so hot during shipping. No one has contacted me. I will never order from them again. Oh, and the plumping lipstick doesn’t work. I got it out is the top and used it, and nothing changed, and it wore off within 30 min. Do not purchase this brand.
That’s a shame that you didn’t like the products or the experience shopping throught the brand’s website.
