In my May Shop My Stash, I decided to select an all cream everyday makeup drawer. What better time than to throw in the Lisa Eldridge Seamless Skin Elevated Glow highlighter? I bought this last winter as I was very curious and since I love her lipsticks, I was curious to try something else from the brand. I couldn’t figure out what foundation shade I would be so I opted for the highlighter first to try something differently. I bought it, showed it in a video, but I had yet to commit to fully putting it to the test. I have now been using this product for a few weeks and these are my thoughts.
Review: Lisa Eldridge Seamless Skin Elevated Glow highlighter in Cosmic Rose
Lisa Eldridge is a more high end makeup brand run by professional MUA Lisa Eldridge who does the most stunning tutorials on Youtube and a few years ago she started her own line. Only sold online and with products going in and out of stock, it can be a coveted brand to get a hold of. She started with lipsticks only but by now has branched out and the highlighters are part of that expansion. At €33 this isn’t a cheap product and I would categorize it in a similar vein to the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless filter as to what it does and how it can be used.
What does this highlighter have to offer?

This highlighter isn’t just any highlighter. This is a 3-in-1 product that can be used as a glowy base under makeup, as a highlighter under foundation OR over foundation for a more enhanced glow. The product is infused with skincare products, which means this can be used directly onto the skin for those added benefits. It has a special ingredient that helps tighten and smooth skin. When I bought mine, the line consisted of 4 shades, but she has just released a new shade which is also totally up my street. However, since I already own one of these, I know I won’t need that as this shade works for me very well and the effect is quite subtle which means you don’t need every shade in the line to get the effect you want.
What does this highlighter do?

With this highlighter I did have to figure out how to use it and what worked for me. This isn’t a ‘let’s-throw-this-on-and-it-will-work’ kind of product. In a way it is, but I find that the way this product is best used is in thin layers to get the best results. I didn’t realize that when I took the pictures for this review, so the effect isn’t as strong as it can be (and my camera struggles with picking up on highlighters as it is when taking pictures). This is why in a future GRWM you will be able to see this product going on in all its glory. I feel the effect of this product translates better in a moving image.
How does the highlighter swatch?

Excuse the blurriness but here you can see what happens when you use the product. The packaging comes with a giant doe foot that has a little resevoir that holds the product. As you blend this in, it meshes perfectly with your skin leaving the most stunning, radiant, lit from within glow. I bought Cosmic Rose which was the best option for me out of the original line up. It may look a bit deep, but really the way this blends in means it works quite well for me. The lightest shade was too golden toned for me, which is why perhaps the newest shade may be even better for me as that is a cool toned pink. However, I have found I prefer my highlighter to be a bit warmer and peachier and Cosmic Rose is definitely that.
How does this highlighter apply?

The mistake I made when trying this out for tese pictures is to use it as I would a normal highlighter. In the top picture you can see the product on my bare skin. Below I have added some foundation. I already mentioned above that I have found this works best for me if I go in thin layers. First step: apply this all over the face (after primer if you wish) before foundation. Step two: apply some product to the highpoints of my cheeks before foundation. Finally, I like to use a little bit more after I apply foundation. This way you are guaranteed the best, most glowy look that still looks natural and not like much makeup at all, even though you are wearing three layers. I wore this out the other day and a friend commented I looked ‘so fresh and glowy’. I am sure it was due to this highlighter.
My final thoughts

The Lisa Eldridge Elevated Glow highlighter in Cosmic Rose is such a pretty product. Not one for people who love bang in your face, can be seen from space highlighter. But if you are like me and you love a product that is easy to use and looks very natural on the face than this is for you. While three steps may seem like a lot to some people, I personally think it just fall into place of other steps. For instance, I skip my usual primer when I use this and layering the product onto the cheeks before and after foundation really isn’t that much effort at all. What I love most however is the finished look and that’s what matters most. I have a great makeup day every time I wear this.
Would I recommend the Lisa Eldridge Elevated Glow highlighter?
Yes but I do think this product isn’t for everyone. This is not for people who are into intense highlighters. I also think you may not fall in love with this if you have very oily skin. However, if you skin needs a bit of help looking plump and hydrated than this product will fit the bill. The only wish I had for it was that the base product would have more of an evening out effect on my skin tone so I could just this as a quick and easy, glowy base and a bit of concealer. For that purpose, this isn’t strong enough and too much of a highligter.
