Today I am reviewing a lipgloss for you. A lipgloss that in its own regard I didn’t find super special to dub it one of my all time favorite glosses, but a successful enough product for me to want to try more from this very much hyped up brand. What am I talking about? The Patrick Ta Major Glow Lip Shine in She’s an Influencer. This lipgloss was the first product I tried from the brand and it gave a taste for more.
Review: Patrick Ta Major Glow Lip Shine in She’s an Influencer
Patrick Ta isn’t an affordable brand and for me, it is also quite hard to come by. It is only available through Cult Beauty and their stock is notoriously terrible. The only way to get your hands on Patrick Ta is to buy things upon release or to put yourself on the waiting list. So you mainly have to be very very patient and be willing to shell out a good bit of money. Because this lipgloss retails for a whooping €21.40 making it one of the more expensive glosses I have tried.
What does this lipgloss have to offer?
I thought that a lipgloss would be a good starting point to try out the brand. Compared to other products in the line this is one of the more affordable options and I just wanted to give them a whirl. All in all, this lipgloss has a lot of dimensional sparkle running through it and there is a bit of a base shade. According to the brand, this gloss should make your lips look plumped up and gorgeous. And that’s where I went wrong. It is through this gloss that I found that I don’t love too much sparkle in my lipgloss. I prefer a cream, more pigmented shade rather than something like this.
What is the shade like?
This gloss also didn’t have as much color to it as I had expected. This gloss comes in three shades, but I highly doubt you need all three. She’s an Influencer is described as Pink Pearl but I don’t get a lot of pink from this. It mainly is a clear gloss with lots of sparkle. The doe foot applicator is very nice though and the formula of this gloss is also outstanding. Let me tell you more about that.
What does this gloss swatch like?
Because if there is one promise this product makes good on it is that is a high shine product. My favorite thing about it is how this feels on the lips. It is smooth and creamy feeling and entirely non-stick. For how many shimmers you get in this formula, you don’t feel a single one. So this truly is an outstanding gloss formula from that perspective, it’s just that I have found glosses like this to just not really suit my tastes. This is very pretty topped over lipsticks but it isn’t one that I feel really makes my lips look great by itself.
What does this gloss look like applied to the lips?
On the lips you can truly see that shine coming through. There is a lot of sparkle and against my natural lips it looks a bit cool toned almost. So I do like this, but it’s almost too shiny for me. It also doesn’t sit nicely on my lips. I feel it emphasizes some of my lips’ natural texture and it just looks like it was applied by my niece who likes to overapply her lipgloss till it is dripping off her lips. She’s five. I prefer my makeup to look a bit more natural rather than this intense.
My final thoughts
The Patrick Ta Major Glow Lip Shine is a great lipgloss for sure. I love this formula so from a quality perspective this is a straight up A+ from me. What I don’t love here though mainly comes down to personal preference. This product doesn’t really go with the way I like doing my makeup, nor the way I like my makeup to look once applied. It’s too intense, not flattering in and I had hoped there would be more of a base color to this. In short, great formula, not the best in the way this works for me.
Would I recommend the Patrick Ta lipgloss?
I do really like the gloss, which is why I figured I could try some more products from the brand. The quality is stunning, but the gloss isn’t really giving me what I need. If you want a gloss that gives your lips that saturated lip look that you see in a lot of lip art: this is for you. If you want a gloss that is more natural and enhances your natural lip color this isn’t it.
