Zoeva brushes & brush holder review

This is a bit of a random one, but I suddenly realized that it has been ages since I did a brush review. Time for change then and have a closer look at some brushes by one of my favorite brush brands: Zoeva. Zoeva has been a staple in my brush collection for years. I have slowly built up my collection and I added some a while ago. For good measure, I threw in their brush holder as well and that’s the brush holders I am still using today. So let’s have a closer look.

Review: Zoeva Brushes & Brush Holder

In this review I will be featuring three different Zoeva brushes. First there is the 146 concealer perfector brush priced at €16.50. Then we will have a closer look at the 129 Luxe Fan brush which also retails for €16.50 Lastly I will be featuring the 114 Luxe Face Focus brush which is a little bit more expensive at €19.50. The brush holder is a separate item that they still sell and retails for €14. I buy my Zoeva items from their official website in Germany and I usually try to buy enough product to qualify for free shipping.

Zoeva Classic Brush Holder

The Zoeva Classic brush holder has been one of the best makeup finds and it is the item in this review that made me want to review these products. The brush holder is a clear, acrylic brush organizer that is incredibly handy to have. Ever since owning this I haven’t been wanting any other storage for my brushes and I may have to buy a second organizer again soon because mine has gotten quite full. Or maybe I should just declutter some of my brushes? Let’s have a closer look.

What does the brush holder have to offer?

I mean, in the end this is just a plastic, clear container with 4 holes so what makes this so special? Well for one, it has 2 larger compartments for face brushes and 2 smalle ones for eye brushes. The brush holder is compact and doesn’t take up heaps of space on your counter top or vanity. Yet, it holds a lot. I decluttered my brush collection before putting everything back in here and I have to say the brushes in the middle compartment don’t get used a whole lot. So I definitely have to give them a switcheroo.

Why this is the perfect brush holder?

What’s more: I haven’t been wanting to look back ever since I started using this. It fits all of my brushes easily and I no longer struggle trying to find what I need when I do my makeup in the morning. I keep my most used face brushes in the compartment to the right. The ones I reach for are easily front and center. Same goes for the eye brushes. The ones I reach for on a daily basis are in the left most compartment towards the front of the organizer. It just fits a lot and it keeps everything organized and you always have a nice overview of what brushes you have.

Zoeva 146 Concealer Perfector brush

A brush I wanted to try was this concealer brush. Only I wasn’t using it for concealer. This brush can easily be used for other purposes. I have used it for setting powder on the under eye area, to blend out my eyeshadow primer and you could even use this for cream products. It just quite a versatile, dense brush that has a nice angled shape to it. The angled shape makes it function quite similarly to the way your fingers would. But I would much rather go in with my fingers than using a brush so in the end I don’t use this on the daily.

Zoeva 129 Luxe Fan brush

A fan brush was something I didn’t own yet. I used to have one but it was a bit flimsy and started falling apart so I figured this could make for a good addition to my brush collection. Like the other brushes here, a fan brush can be used for many different things. It mainly just gives you a sheer finish as it isn’t a brush that picks up a lot of product. So this can be used for highlighter, but also for powders, blending out powder products or making sure you get a good finish all over the face. Again, versatile, but again not something I ended up making work in my daily makeup routine.

114 Luxe Face Focus brush

The Luxe Face Focus brush was one that I bought because finding a good highlighter brush I have found can be quite difficult. I was hoping this could help with picking up denser more intense highlighters but in the end I feel this doesn’t pick up the product the way I’d like it too. It is a bit too big for my cheek bone area. What it is great for though is for the target application of face powder. If you don’t want your powder to go everywhere but just in a few spots where your makeup needs it the most, then this is a good one.

My final thoughts

I really love all of my Zoeva brushes but these three didn’t end up into my daily makeup routine as they aren’t quite perfect. That being said, I am being picky as these are perfectly fine brushes that I know lots of people will find great. The quality is also like what I am used to from Zoeva: these are soft, dense brushes of good quality that are affordable yet don’t fall apart after just a few uses. These wash well, hold up over time and are just good brushes that don’t break the bank.

Would I recommend Zoeva makeup brushes?

When it comes to Zoeva, I think they are the best brushes within this price range. I have many of their brushes and have built up my collection over the years. These aren’t my favorite brushes by them per se, but I can assure you: no matter the brush you buy, these are good ones. Just thinking out loud here for a minute: maybe I should do a video or blog post about my favorite Zoeva brushes? Wouldn’t that be an idea?

Have you ever tried Zoeva brushes?
