Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s the Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Light Wand in Pinkgasm. If there was one talked about product on Tiktok last summer it was this beauty products. As a result it sold out quickly and was difficult to get. I had been wanting to try one of these wand products and after some thought I figured Pinkgasm may be the best shade for me. So when I ordered in the Black Friday sale and this was in stock, I decided to throw it into my basket and give it a whirl. Let’s discuss how that went.
Review: Charlotte Tilbury Glowgasm Beauty Light Wand High Blush in Pinkgasm
Because Charlotte Tilbury isn’t a cheap brand I am always a bit careful with hopping on the bandwagon. I tend to buy from the brand once or twice a year only and usually if there is a sale. The CT Black Friday sale is one of the best deals and you always get a lot of free product to boot. So I always wait with buying my CT products and hardly ever buy something upon release. This product retails for €36 which is quite a hefty price tag as you only get 12 ml of product, which because of the packaging you will never fully get access to.
What does this product have to offer?

Essentially this is nothing but a glowy blush or highlighter. It has a beautiful shine and depending on your skin tone you can use it in multiple ways. The packaging makes this easy to apply and while the shade looks a bit dark in a full on swatch I feel this blended out beautifully on my fair skin. It’s just a great one stop shop and you’re done kind of product which I love for travel. You just dot this onto the cheeks and then use your fingers, a brush or a makeup sponge to blend it in. Easy as pie!
What is the packaging like?

My biggest pet peeve about this product: the packaging. It is quite ingenious but anything sponge tip that dispenses the product I just dislike with a passion. It is unhygienic and it is very wasteful. So much perfectly good product gets soaked up by the sponge before it gets onto your face. Then it proceeds to dry up in the sponge never to be seen or used again. In short, while it makes the product very easy to use and there is a little lock mechanism that prevents product from leaking out, this packaging just isn’t my favorite.
How does this product swatch?

At first glance this product is much too dark for me. However, you would never apply such a full on, thick swatch onto the cheeks. This is simply one of those ‘a little goes a long way’ type of products and once blended in, you do get a very pretty rose gold sheen. It blends in beautifully but because of the shade I can only use this as a blush and not as a highlighter. I personally prefer to blend all of my creams in with a sponge after I apply them for a more seamless look and this product definitely achieves that while lasting on the face all day.
What does this product look like applied to the cheeks?

Here you can see the product applied to my cheeks. It’s pretty but I do feel it accentuates the texture of my skin quite a bit. I think it’s to do with the sponge tip applicator: it simply lifts off some of the foundation underneath taking some of that product away. I would therefore recommend applying some of this product to the back of your hand rather than with the sponge tip, use your fingers to apply it and then make it seamless with a sponge. If this product had a pump or a doe foot, I would love it so much more.
My final thoughts

I really enjoy the Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Light Wand in Pinkgasm. Do I get the hype though? Not really. This product didn’t wow me and while it’s a nice blush, I feel I have other cream and liquid blushes that I just like better. The shade is pretty, the way it applies is beautiful but I just wish it came in different packaging. That sponge tip just really breaks this That is really my main gripe here.
Would I recommend the Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Light Wand in Pinkgasm?
If you like this, I would say: go for it! If you are like me and a bit picky with how functional and hygienic your makeup packaging is, then I would say: skip it. Yes it’s pretty but for how expensive this is, I don’t think it is that revolutionary of a product. For less money you can find much better and also very glowy liquid blushes on the market that I would reach for over this one for sure.
