Anyone game for a lilac highlighter? That’s exactly what the Kaleidos Makeup Space Age highligter in Moon Cruiser has to offer. I have reviewed some of these highlighters before and I really love them, but I definitely have my preferences. These are sparkly and more unique than your average highlighter and that has to be your cup of tea. Moon Cruiser I picked over Sky Walker as I found that a blue highlighter would be less wearable than a lilac one. Both look quite identical in the pan though, but I had fun playing around with this. So let’s have a closer look.
Review: Kaleidos Makeup Space Age Highlighter Moon Cruiser
So the Kaleidos Makeup Space Age highlighters are incredibly well priced for what you get. The standard ones like this one are $14 a pop. The multichrome ones are $36 and you can buy the full set of 8 for $150. When I got mine, I was able to put a selection of 6 together myself for less than $100 which was a steal for the quality you get. So definitely keep an eye on the website if you are interested in more than one shade, because they do some good things.
What does this highlighter have to offer?

What makes these Space Age highlighters so special? The range has quite a good selection of different shades. From multichromes that come in a warmer and a cooler version as well as your ‘regular’ gold, peachy and pink highlighters as well as the more unusual blue, lilac and magenta shades as well. So the line has something to offer for everyone, which I think is why it is very appealing. The textures are stunning, soft, yet blendable but it is all a little bit more towards a more noticeable highlight. These are not subtle or for the faint of heart.
What is Moon Cruiser like?

Kaleidos describes Moon Cruiser as a lilac highlighter with a cobalt blue flip. I personally get less blue and more lilac on my cheeks. It has a strong lilac, icy base with some blue sparkles running through. In the pan this looks like a straight up white, which is why these confused me at first. It’s not until you swatch or apply these that they actually show up as the product described. This does have some noticeable sparkle which is why this didn’t end up being my favorite of the line. Another downside: this only comes with 2.8 grams of product which isn’t a lot for a highlighter. With everyday use these won’t last very long.
How does this highlighter swatch?

Moon Cruiser is a stunning shade, but I did end up declutter mine. Mainly because I wasn’t using a shade like this enough. Because it is a more unusual shade I found that it didn’t blend into my skin all that well and while I like a lilac highlighter, I have other ones already that I find more wearable than this. However, I love playing with my makeup and that’s what these highlighters are great for. These aren’t just to be used as highlighters, but also as toppers for eyeshadows, inner corner highlights and these work really well topped over the Kaleidos Lip Clay liquid lipsticks as well.
What does Moon Cruiser look like on the cheeks?

In this picture you can see what I mean with this having a bit of a weird cast against my skin. When not hitting the light, it left a weird blueish purple cast and because of that color it looks like a type of bruise. Not a great look. It was fun to try it though and when it catches the light this is lovely. However, because I have other lilac highlighters in my collection that I find more wearable I did end up choosing to declutter it last spring.
My final thoughts

The Kaleidos Makeup Space Age highlighters are definitely different from the usual. They don’t come with a lot of product but the shades are unusual, the textures are fun and you can really do more with this than just wear them as a highlighter. Moon Cruiser ended up not giving me the look I wanted from it. I had hoped it to be more lilac than a frosted blueish purple. It’s almost like those blacklight shadows I love so much but then in a more sparkly sheerer formula. While that is stunning on the lids, I don’t need it for my cheeks. And if I want that look, I could just use one of those shadows with a light hand instead.
Would I recommend the Kaleidos Makeup Moon Cruiser highlighter?
I think Moon Cruiser will cater to so many people’s highlighter need. If you want something that allows you to be more creative this is great. But if you wear your makeup mainly to go to school or a job, unless that space is more of a creative one, this may be difficult to get away with on a day to day basis. That said, you can do more with this than just a highlight which makes it a more versatile palette. It wasn’t perfect for me, but I still think this product has a lot to offer if it is up your street.
