A brand that was on my wishlist to buy and try? Wayne Goss makeup. Wayne Goss is one of the OG Youtube makeup artists I started following years ago and he started a makeup line a few years ago. It started with brushes and slowly but surely he extended the range an it now includes some more accessibly products. For my first products I decided to go with a gloss and a blush. Today we are reviewing the gloss first. Let’s see whether I like this luxury makeup line.
Review: Wayne Goss High Shine Gloss Petunia
The Wayne Goss makeup products are only sold through one place: luxury retailer Beautylish. They are based in the US but luckily for international customers they add all shipping and handling fee up front so you always know how much you are paying. The gloss isn’t that expensive. At $22 I feel this is similarly priced to other luxury lip gloss brands so nothing too outrageous. I think in terms of a n entry product in the line I felt it was a good first step.
What does this gloss have to offer?
This lipgloss is decribed as the perfect 90s throwback lipgloss but with a hydrating, nourishing formula and in different shades of nude. This color is describe as a deep nude mauve. It should not be sticky, yet last all day. It can be worn by itself or over lipstick or a lip liner for a more defined look. Overall it just looks like a standard lipgloss like many others, but maybe this formula truly is going to add something new to my lipgloss collection.
What is this lipgloss like?
So my expectations were not that high going into it. I was like: this is a gloss. How good can this be? Boy was I wrong! This lipgloss truly has one of the best formulas I have tried. It is rich and creamy and of the most comfortable lipglosses I have ever tried. This feels like a lip balm, but it’s high shine glossy while at the same time also staying on your lips all day. If you are in the market for a comfortable gloss, then this is the gloss for you for sure.
How does this product swatch?
What I was suprised at when I received this home, is how peachy it looked in the packaging. I was a bit disappointed at first as I felt it wasn’t a mauve at all. That is, till I put on my lips. Even the shade of this lipgloss is on point. It adds a great deal of shine, has good pigmentation, is not sticky and yet it works really well. As far as glosses go this is by far one of the nicest ones I have ever tried. It looks like lipstick, feels like a balm, shines like a gloss and just works really well all around.
My final thoughts
The Wayne Goss High Shine lipgloss in Petunia is one that I bought to have an entry into the brand. As far as luxury brands go I always want them to bring more to the table than more affordable brands and this product definitely delivers. From an outstanding formula to a great nude mauve colored shade on the lips, this product is definitely grade A. Still, with gloss I have found that the drugstore does some lovely things too so you definitely do not have to spend this much money if you don’t want to.
Would I recommend the Wayne Goss lipgloss in Petunia?
I think this is a stunning lipgloss. After buying this I also realized that I tend to buy and gravitate towards very similar shades in glosses: it’s always a nude mauve shade. Oh well… If what you want is a stellar formula, then definitely pick this up. If all you want is a good nude mauve lipgloss you can find that at a much cheaper price point. My favorite is the Catrice Better Than Fake Lips Volume Gloss in Lifting Nude.
