In my quest to find the best skin tint, I wanted to try some more. When I found myself at Liberty’s in the summer, I stumbled upon this and felt it might be a good one to try. So let’s review the Ultra Violette Daydream Screen Skin Veil.
This skin tint comes in 15 shades, is more of a high end price point and people have been raving about this brand’s SPF. That was all I knew, I had not heard anyone talking about this yet and so I figured I could try it.
Review: Ultra Violette Daydream Screen Tinted Veil V2
At €43 a pop this skin tint isn’t a cheap product. The brand is best known for sunscreens and this is their first base product. It should be a silky, lightweight formula that is comfortable on the skin and filled with good for your skin ingredients.
So I wanted to try this as I was hoping this could be the perfect blend of makeup, skincare and SPF.
What does this skin tint have to offer?
The promise on this one is lightweight, natural coverage and the combination of a tinted moisturizer with a strong SPF. This has SPF 50, but it is still recommended to first apply a ‘real SPF’ before using this. It should be moisturizing and hydrating making this hopefully great for dry skin.
What does this skin tint look like in a swatch?
This foundation has a very liquidy consistency and a lot of glow! The shade I got was V2 which is a tad too dark for me at the minute, but for my summer shade it works quite well.
Due to the very glowy texture, I would not recommend this for oily skin. But this is beautiful on dry skin. Especially if you are into the no makeup, makeup look, this can be a great product.
What is the coverage like?
This being marketed as a tinted moisturizer, I feel this still has a good enough coverage. I don’t love anything too full on, so I feel this is exactly what I need. It covers my redness and it feels very comfortable on the skin.
In terms of wear time this is okay, but because it is very glowy indeed, this does look a bit oily throughout the day. Therefore I feel this works best if you don’t wear too much other makeup. It doesn’t play too well with powder products.
What is the shade match like?
Out of all the available shades V2 was best for me. V1 and V0 were far too light for me, but undertone wise the entire range pulls quite yellow. For my cool to neutral undertone this is therefore not perfect. Does it look nice once the rest of my makeup is done? Yes, but it’s not perfect.
Combined with the glowy texture, the yellow shades makes this more of a summer product for me. This looks best with very minimal makeup and that is a look I go for on hot summer days. So I will definitely keep this around for those minimal makeup hot summer days.
Should you buy the Ultra Violette Skin Tint?
As far as base products go this isn’t my favorite. It does tick a lot of boxes. First of all, the texture feels amazingly comfortable on the skin.
Secondly, this applies easily, wears well throughout the day and is very moisturizing.
However, for me this isn’t perfect as the glowy finish and the shade does not make this a universally flattering product.
Since I have dry skin this works for me, but if you have oily skin I would not recommend. Also, due to the shade I can only wear this in the summer time with very minimal makeup.
For me, to comfortably recommend a base product, I feel I have to be able to make it work year round in many different situations and for many occasions. This just isn’t that.
