When I asked my audience for recommendations for great drugstore foundations, many people recommended the Wet N Wild Tinted Hydrator. This skin tint like foundation certainly sounded promising and so I picked it up. Let’s give it a full review.

What made this foundation sound promising? It promises to be lightweight, hydrating, glowy foundation and it is available in 11 shades. That sounds like a good foundation in my book.
Review: Wet N Wild Bare Focus Tinted Skin Perfector Fair
For the price point you certainly do not have to pass this up. This retails for €7.95 which is very affordable indeed. It does seem to retail for different price points on different website. I bought mine through Lookfantastic, but you can find this on Notino, Zalando and of course the Wet N Wild official website. Choose the retailer that suits your location.
How does this foundation swatch?

When it comes to the formula this light coverage foundation is straight up perfection. It is lightweight and dewy as promised. It blends in very easily and it feels very pleasant on the skin. This doesn’t highlight dry patches and it is also hydrating for my dry/ dehydrated skin. There is no noticeable scent and the wear time on it is great too. This lasts all day without touchups.
What is the coverage like?

Coverage wise this foundationn is indeed on the sheer side. But that is what I like. I love it when my natural redness isn’t fully covered. But that slight yellow tinge in the picture on the right? That’s not a trick of the light. That’s due to the foundation.
While this shade is available in 11 shades, I have only been able to find 4 of these in stores here. Fair is the lightest shade I could get my hands on and it is described as fair with cool undertones. Yet it makes me look like I have a liver disease (no offense).
What is the shade match like?

Despite this having a stunning formula that is quite possibly on point for what I would want any skin tint to do, the shade Fair is simply not right for me. You can see here as well how yellow it is. Sure, I can correct this with a bit of concealer and powder and when I apply bronzer I can blend it in quite well. So this isn’t unwearable, but it also isn’t quite right for me.
Should you buy the Wet N Wild Tinted Hydrator?

While this drugstore foundation didn’t work for me, the Wet N Wild Tinted Hydrator definitely isn’t a bad product. I love the formula, the way it looks on the skin and the wear time. What I don’t love is the shade range.
If you can find your shade, this is a stunning drugstore foundation. However, with just 11 shades available, even fewer in some territories, finding that right shade may be difficult for many.
Additionally the description of the shades is severly lacking. This is anything BUT a fair toned foundation with a cool undertone. It is yellow, more geared towards a light complexion and therefore I cannot say I trust the Wet N Wild shade descriptions. But not only in the light shades is this shade range lacking. On the deeper end of the spectrum there are even far fewer options.
If you are interested in this foundation, try to find a tester in store if you can. If you just want to try a beautiful, hydrating, glowy foundation, this is a good bet. Now we just need the shade range to match more than just a select few.
