BK Beauty brush review

In 2022, I set myself the task to try some new to me brush brands. One that was still on the list was BK Beauty and I found a great deal on their website for Black Friday and I got myself two sets.

Today we are reviewing the BK Beauty Makeup Brushes Core Line Extension Face Brush Set & Brush Set for Hooded or Smaller Eyes.

The Core Line Extension Face brush set and Brush set for Hooded or Smaller Eyes were both on my wishlist. Why? Because the brushes seemed perfect for some of my smaller features.

I tried both brush sets exclusively for an entire month to really test out what these brushes can do. I paid for the brushes with my own money.

Review: BK Beauty Makeup Brushes – Core Line Extension Face Brush Set & Brush Set for Hooded or Smaller Eyes

The reason why I was happy I got these as part of a deal was the price point. These brushes aren’t super cheap but they also aren’t horribly expensive. You can buy the brushes individually, but when I test a new brush brand, I love going for brush sets.

The Core Line Extension set retails for €148.95. The eyes brush set retails for €78.95. These are full prices, you can get these for a bit of money off for sure. The best place to buy BK Beauty is their official website. While they have an ‘EU’ website, the products are still shipped from the US, so I was hit with about €45 in shipping and custom fees.

109 Mini Contoured Foundation

The Core Line Extension Face brush set comes with 5 face brushes. They are designed to be smaller for more targeted application. The brushes included are:

My favorite brush from the set is the 109 Mini Contoured Foundation brush pictured above. I love it for foundation AND concealer. It’s been a great one stop shop for all things base.

The shape allows you to blend in foundation along larger areas of the face, but it is small enough to allow you to blend your concealer around your nose and under eye area.

110 Large Concealer

I like the other brushes as well but they were a bit more limiting. The 110 Large Concealer brush was a bit too big and fluffy for my concealer application. So I used this for highlighter instead. It worked very well, but it was a bit too big for that for me as well.

111 Dense Bronzer

Another great brush was the 110 Dense Bronzer Brush. I loved this brush for powder though, not bronzer. It was too dense (yes! I know what a contradiction) for use with bronzer. I have fair skin and bronzer can easily look too much on my skin. That’s why I loved this for powder more.

112 Small Angled Face

My second favorite brush? The 112 Small Angled Face brush. I struggle with some brushes just being too big for my features. But this small blush brush was great for applying targeted blush in specific areas, but it blends at the same time. In short a great multitasker of a brush that I think can be used for many more uses.

113 Small Flat powder

The 113 Small Flat powder brush is good too but not my favorite. In fact, this one was a bit difficult to find a use for. It’s great for applying powder in smaller areas and I ended up using it for bronzer. But it was a bit too small for that in my opinion. Again, could be used for highlighter as well, but I need a bit more from a powder brush.

BK Beauty Brush Set for Hooded or Smaller eyes

The second set I got was an eye brush set. And this is how I came across the brand in the first place. BK Beauty may be very well the only brand with brushes aimed specifically at smaller or hooded eye shapes. These are the brushes in the set:

Having hooded, deepset eyes myself, I find most eye brush to be far too big to fit my eyes. So I was curious to see how this would do on my eyes.

202 Defined Crease

After trying these for a month I can say that the 202 Define Crease Brush is better than I had anticipated. When first unwrapping these brushes I found this brush to be too big. And it is for a standard crease brush. But as a blending brush? It is quite possibly one of the better ones I have tried.

203 Shader

Another brush I wasn’t in love with straight away was the 203 Shade brush. And while it is good, I find it too fluffy for my preference. It is small enough for sure, but I feel the fluffy texture can lead to fall out and it’s not great for picking up shimmer shades. While it works well enough, I have other brushes I just like better.

204 Smudge It

The best eye brush in this set? The 204 Smudge It. For some time now, I have been looking for a possible replacement for one of my oldest brushes. And I have found it! This is even a bit smaller, but if you want a brush that is great for smudging shadow along the lash line, then this is the best one I have found.

207 Pencil Blender

From the eyes brushes I was also happily surprised by the performance of the 207 Pencil Blender brush. This looks like a very very small finger tip. It makes for great application in the inner corner or again for more targeted application. I find it a bit too stiff to use for blending but you could certainly use it to smokey things out if you were so inclined.

208 Precision Angled

If you struggle finding a good angled brush because they are all too thick? Then look no further than the 208 Precision Angled brush. This is quite possibly the thinnest angled brush I have found. So precise and small in fact, that I felt it takes a bit too long to draw a line. But that means it could also be great for drawing on brow hairs or a super sharp wing.

Should you buy the BK Beauty brushes?

I am very happy with the brushes I got from BK Beauty. I will certainly be putting a few of them into my daily rotation. The foundation brush and smudge it brush are my two favorites that I would definitely recommend to everyone.

The other brushes are also good. These brushes feel dense, fluffy, and high quality even though they are vegan. They are also very soft, yet pick up color easily and blend things seamlessly.

Overall, I am very happy with my BK Beauty purchase, but I am currently unsure I would buy from them again. This is mainly due to the high shipping costs, not the quality of the brushes though.
