In recent years I discovered K-beauty and 2023 is going to be a K-beauty heavy year. After trying some random bits in the past, I felt it was time for me to dig deeper and try more formulas. Lip products was my first K-beauty love and one such discovery was the Romand Zero Velvet Tint. Here’s why I love these.

In this review I will be going over the four shades from the 2020 Fall/ Winter Collection: Petal Tassel, Earl Grey Shawl, Berry Knit and Villain Vest. I wanted to try these just for the names alone!
Review: Romand Zero Velvet Tint lipstick Petal Tassel, Earl Grey Shawl, Berry Knit and Villain Vest
I buy most of my K-beauty products through Yesstyle. I have found they have the largest selection of K-beauty products, shipping is relatively fast and most importantly you get free shipping over a certain amount. Since Yesstyle is located in China, shipping and handling fees are very manageable making this €6.60 a pop lipstick very much worth it if I may say so. I bought this product with my own money.
What does this lipstick have to offer?

The Romand Zero Velvet Tints are a liquid lipstick formula but a comfortable one at that. I think, now that I have tried a few brands, that K-beauty is where it is at if you are looking for comfortable liquid lipsticks that have good lasting power but that don’t have that weird dry down texture.
The Romand Zero Velvet Tints are by far one of my favorite lipstick formulas I have tried in years. These have a rich and creamy texture, an easy to use applicator and a great wear time. They do break up and wear down quicker than a traditional liquid lipstick but since these don’t dry down completely you can easily smudge them back in and reapply them.
What do these shades swatch like?

So I decided to buy the full set when I decided to try these. That way I could try an array of shades in this formula so I could really makeup my mind. You can see in the swatch that these are pigmented shades that have a slight sheen and have a creamy texture. These stain the lips, especially the deeper shades, but these aren’t a traditional lip stain. They are a great middle ground between a stain, a traditional dry down liquid lipstick and a liquified bullet lipstick.
Romand Zero Velvet Tint Petal Tassel

Petal Tassel was one I was looking forward to the least because I had expected this to pull very Barbie pink on me. To my surprise this has a bit more warmth and it’s not as blue toned as I had expected. It’s not quite a mauve either, more like a true bright rose and those aren’t my favorite shades on me. This is pretty in the spring time, but not my go to shade that I would reach for all the time.

The shade I wanted to try the most was Earl Grey Shawl. This is the only shade currently out of stock on Yesstyle and I can see why. This isn’t quite a red, nor is it a try brown but it keeps the middle ground. This again was different from what I had expected. From the images I had expected this to be cooler toned as well and this ended up being super warm. It pulls a bit too orange for my liking but a great wearable shade that is a bit different from the usual for sure.
Romand Zero Velvet Tint Berry Knit

Another disappointing shade was Berry Knit. These just looked far more plum leaning on the website than they did when I got these in, so I was surprised to see this being a classic red. Now I luckily suit classic reds quite well so I do really love the shade on me. However I have about a million different classic reds in my lipstick collection so it wasn’t necessary for me to be keeping this around.

My favorite shade would have to be Villain Vest. This deeper red again wasn’t quite what I had expected but there are a few reasons why I like this most. In a liquid lip formula I am most inclined to be wearing more intense shades like this. Secondly, this is a dupe for Lisa Eldridge’s Velvet Jazz. Again, not one that I had to keep around per se, but a stunning shade nonetheless.
Should you buy the Romand Zero Velvet Tints?
If you love a great formula in a lipstick then these are a straight up yes from me. I was a little disappointed in some of the shades though, so I actually ended up decluttering all of these from my makeup collection. I simply had too much to be keeping everything I like, especially if I already have shades that are similar or exactly the same to these.
That said, I am very happy I got to try these lipsticks. In fact, I liked these so much that I decided to buy another shade to try to see if the line also offers some more unique things. So you can expect another review in the future on that shade. If these shades look to be your jam than at this price point you have yourself a lovely lipstick.
