EM Cosmetics Serum Blush review

Did you miss me? Yup I went MIA for a few days as I just needed a break. I was on a 155 day streak with the blog posts, but alas. Life got in the way and so I decided to put myself first. But I am back and today’s review is for the EM Cosmetics Color Drops Serum blush in Venetian Rose.

I reviewed the shade Pink Nectar from the same line before. I love these little liquid blushes but I have since decluttered all of the shades I own save for this one! What I love about them is their finish and the color range. What I don’t love? The price point, availability and the packaging.

Review: EM Cosmetics Color Drops Serum Blush Venetian Rose

At first glance this may seem like a good deal. The EM Cosmetics serum blushes retail for $28 and they have a lot going for them. The packaging is cute and it now comes in 8 shades. What is not so great is what happens if you shop from the EU. The brand is located in the US which means you will have to pay additional shipping & handling fees. On top of that, I had some issues with this brand before as they ship UPS and their customer service is terrible. It’s been one of the reasons why I haven’t bought anything else by the brand.

What does this blush have to offer?

I still have the older version of the serum blush. So the dropper on this one had the press system. It now comes with a classic dropper style which some people seem to think is an improvement, while others think it’s as terrible as the old version.

While this packaging looks stunning it has a few downsides. The frosted glass bottle warps what the color actually looks like when it comes out, making it difficult to see the product as you reach for it.

Secondly, the dropper is terrible. The product is super pigmented so all you need is just one drop, but you can easily dispense too much. Additionally the dropper doesn’t always work. There is a method to it that makes it easier, but it’s not foolproof.

What does this blush swatch like?

Texture wise this is one of my favorite blush formulas though. It is intense, yet glowy and it blends easily into the skin. The shade Venetian Rose is a stunning warm toned rose which works much better on my skin than I had expected. Out of all the shades I owned this one was the most unique.

That said, the Apieu Juicy Pang liquid blushes are only $7, don’t hit you up with additional fees and they have easier to use packaging. Not only are they a dupe, I actually prefer them over these which is why when I last decluttered my blush collection I decided to only keep Venetian Rose as it was more unique in my collection.

In the end, the EM Cosmetics serum blushes are stunning. A little goes a long way and I love the way this blends. It is easy to use once you get the hang of it and the shade Venetian Rose is that perfect neutral toned blush that is great with so many looks. It is a true nude blush shade that I can wear with anything.

Another thing I love about this is the way it wears throughout the day. There is a reason why I took this on my most recent trip to Paris. It was the only blush I brought and I loved how it played with the Rare Beauty bronzer and the ELF Jelly Pop highlighter that I brought too. A killer combo that I know I will reach for more often.

Should you buy the EM Cosmetics serum blush in Venetian Rose?

Overall, the EM Cosmetics serum blushes were ahead of their time when they launched. However, since then, so many other liquid blushes have dropped that I don’t feel these are super special anymore. I love mine and I will keep Venetian Rose around for sure. But to say you need this in your life? Not according to me.

Here’s why this isn’t the must have it may seem:

  • Most shades available are warm toned
  • There are cheaper options available that are just as good
  • Expensive shipping and handling fees
  • International shipment carrier has terrible customer service
  • Packaging is finicky

In short, if you feel you need this in your life, I think you would not regret the purchase. Just know there are many alternatives by now that you do not have to get these if you don’t want to.
