We are in the home stretch of my trying out a bunch of K-beauty base products. There were plenty of BB creams, but there are also some actual foundations that I decided to try. One of the foundation is the Mizon Collagen Power foundation. How do I like this? Let’s find out.
Mizon as a brand is one I didn’t know much about. Apparently they started off doing skincare first and then branched out into makeup. So if you are looking for makeup that infuses the benefits of skincare than this may be a good brand to look into. Now let’s have a look at what this foundation has to offer.
Mizon Collagen Power foundation #13
First things first: the price point and I was surprised by how affordable Mizon is. This foundation retails for around the €10 mark, which really puts it in that drugstore range. I buy all my K-beauty stuff from Yesstyle as they have the widest selection and their shipping and handling fees are manageable and they do regular discounts.
What does this foundation have to offer?
This foundation is supposed to give a glowy finish and a dewy look: my favorite. When I first looked into K-beauty products most of what I found was always aimed at mattifying, but that is not what I am looking for. So I am glad to be able to find more glowy options.
Another benefit is an SPF of 50 and there are actual skincare ingredients in this foundation such as collagen and centalla asiatica. Especially centella is an ingredient that I am very interested in trying as it should soothe the skin and help with sensitivity. All in all, it’s got a lot going for it.
What is the coverage like?
This didn’t give me much information about how much coverage it would give, but I would categorize this as a light to medium buildable coverage. With this I really don’t need a lot and it is actually better to use less than more. It has quite a rich formula so if you use too much it can easily look a bit too much and makeuppy. However, if you use just a little bit you get decent coverage and a beautiful, natural finish.
What is the shade match like?
As I have pointed out in multiple K-beauty BB Cream and foundation reviews: we have to mention the shade range. There are only two shades available. This is the lightest shade of the two. I like the shade match. It’s a touch too yellow, but it works really well. It is recommended to concentrate this product in the middle of the face and blend it from there to the outer edges of the face and this indeed gives the best result.
Should you buy the Mizon Collagen Power foundation?
This is a very decent foundation pick. It is not lifechanging or mind-blowing, but it is a pretty foundation that wears well and has a great finish, feel and look to it. This is a great foundation for everyday wear and that I think can appeal to many people.
What is so appealing?
- Great wear time
- Natural finish (if not using too much)
- Light to medium coverage
- Easy to blend
- Good shade match for fair skin
In short, this ticks pretty much all the boxes and therefore I feel this is one I can safely recommend. If you can find your shade match, you will definitely like this one.
