Powder and dry skin? Do these things even go together? In the case of the Etude House Secret Beam Powder they most certainly do. This K-beauty powder is one that I have been using for weeks now and I love it.
K-beauty powders aren’t exactly dry skin friendly most of the time. Lots of them are created for oily skin and can be dry and cakey looking as they are too heavy. However, the Etude House Secret Beam powder is one I really enjoy and it very much reminds me of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting powders.

What does this powder have to offer?
The Etude Secret Beam powder is described as being glowy and radient as it should brighten as well as cover up blemishes. It does also describe there being oil controlling properties and you get a powder puff that comes with it. So this can be controlled in terms of coverage as well. I prefer using it with a brush for a lighter effect.
What does this look like in a swatch?
This powder is very finely milled but also has quite a bit of payoff when you pick it up. Therefore I don’t use it with a powder puff as I just know it would lead me to apply too much product for my dry skin. It would result more in a baked effect rather than what I like to do. There are some sparkles in this, but once on the face they are invisible.
What does this look like on my face?
This gives a slightly lightened effect but not to the point where it looks unnatural. I love the effect this gives on my skin and it lasts all day without looking cakey. That said, I do use a big powder brush to apply this for a lighter coverage. And with that I feel this makes my skin look radiant but it also makes sure my makeup stays in place.
Should you buy the Etude House Secret Beam powder?
Overall I love the way this powder sits on the skin and how it makes my makeup wear throughout the day. It doesn’t come in many shades but I feel this is quite a good alternative to the Hourglass Ambient Lighting powder in Diffused Light. The slight yellow undertone, the glowy finish and the way this looks when I wear it all day is stunning. So yes, I would highly recommend this if you can get a hold of it.
