In January I tried & reviewed the Collection Hydra Serum foundation. Also in that Shop My Stash? The matching concealer. And that used to be a favourite. Who remembers the hype in old school online beauty land for the original Lasting Perfection concealer? My 2016 review is certainly a testament. Let’s see how I got on with this updated, hydrating version.

I will be frank: the reason why I once stopped using the Lasting Perfection concealer by Collection was because it ended up being too dry and cakey for me. A touch heavy compared to a truly hydrating concealer I nowadays go for, I was stoked to find this hydrating version at Superdrug when I was in the UK over the summer time. Is this truly hydrating as the name suggests? Let’s find out.
Review: Collection Lasting Perfection Hydrating Serum concealer 2 Porcelain
At £4.99 this really is a cheap and cheerful concealer. If you like your budgetproof products and you live in the UK, then the Collection range is worth checking out. Sadly this line no longer gets the hype it used to get. I feel drugstore brands in general don’t, which is a shame. It may be difficult to find if you are not in the UK though so that might be why there aren’t many people talking about it.
What does this concealer have to offer?

Collection is trying to do what higher end brands do as well: creating products that carry the same name as products that they are famous for. This should be a creamy, medium coverage that moisturizes and hydrates skin. It should even have some skincare benefits to help your skin over time. On top of that it is transferproof and water resistant.
What does this concealer look like in a swatch?

One thing you can’t fault them for is the shade range. This comes in 20 shades which is more than the original Lasting Perfection concealer which I remember came in four shades originally. 2 Porcelain is nice and light, perhaps a touch too light for my liking.
What I dislike about this concealer is visible here as well: it’s simply too thick. This looks heavy in a swatch and it looks heavy on the face. Perhaps this is great for covering up blemishes on the face, but for the under eye I would recommend to stay away if you have any fine lines or wrinkles.
What does this look like on the face?

My test for any concealer is how it looks on my under eye area. And as you can see in this side by side comparison: it’s just a touch too thick and heavy for my skin. It goes streaky, starts to pull in lines pretty much instantly and looks blotch on places. To top things off this concealer just wouldn’t stick to my nose. Normally I have no issues with that but for some reason this concealer accentuated every pore on my nose.
Would I recommend the Collection Hydrating Serum concealer?

While this doesn’t look too bad when you zoom out, this picture was taken right after finishing my makeup. This didn’t wear well on my dry skin throughout the day. I think therefore this concealer is best if you are younger than me. For anyone with more mature skin, fine lines and wrinkles this will simply be too much.
Does this feel nice going on? Yes. Does it come in a very light shade that can be hard to find in the drugstore? Also yes. But texture wise this just doesn’t cut it for me. This makes me look 10 years older than I am in under 5 minutes and that, my friends, is why I would not recommend this Collection concealer.
