When Catrice says they come out with a holographic highlighter, naturally I have to try it out. So this review will focus on the question: did Catrice release a multichrome highlighter? Or are they lying? Let’s review the Space Glam Holo highlighter.
Let’s tackle that first question: is this holo as the name suggests? The answer is no. But if you had hoped this could be a multichrome highlighter at an affordable price point then you are in the right spot, because this Catrice highlighter shifts from pink to lavender and from gold to peach and even a hint of green.
Review: Catrice Space Glam Holo highlighter 010 Beam Me Up
So yes, this is a multichrome highlighter for under €5. €4.99 exact is what this highlighter retails for which is quite the steal. Seeing how indie brands have had the monopoly of all things multichrome for a while, this is a multichrome highlighter that isn’t super intense, very wearable but you will still get the effect.
What does this highlighter have to offer?
Catrice may have been overreaching a bit when calling this a Holo highlighter but a Chrome highlighter? That’s what this is for sure. This promises to have a pink to gold to green shift and I can definitely see those shades and the formula is soft, blendable and easy to apply. The brand indicates this can be used as a highlighter or as an eyeshadow and I would certainly agree.
What does this highlighter swatch like?
In a swatch you can see the shifts a little bit better. You can see the cool toned pink to lavender, the gold that mixed with the pink looks a peach and in the top left corner you can see that hint of green this has. This is a cream to powder formula that reminds me of Colourpop Supershock highlighters but less putty and easier to use with a brush. This blends seamlessly and on the cheeks it’s not too harsh looking, but built up with a brush in an eye look you can easily amp up the intensity to wear it full on.
What does this look like on the cheeks?
Looking for a wearable multichrome highlighter? Then definitely give this a whirl. I have tried other multichrome highlighters in the past and I have delegated those to be used as single shadows only as they are too intense and the shine leaves a greyish cast on my skin. This Catrice version doesn’t.
This looks natural and like a true highlighter when you wear it. I wore it to work today and no one looked at me and said: does your highlighter shift colors? It just looks more of a pink on my cooler toned skin when it is sheered out so the base is more pink/ lavender. But maybe this can pull warm toned on warmer undertones too.
Should you buy the Catrice Space Glam Holo highlighter?
I think this product is great for people on a budget who’d like to try a holographic highlighter at under €5. This works, has the shifts but isn’t that strong that it doesn’t work on the face. In the full face picture I am also wearing this as an inner corner highlight and there you can see a bit more full on and then you see more of the purple. But yes, this works, it’s affordable and therefore I think Catrice has nailed this one.
