Sometimes brands release products that just don’t make sense to me. This review is for one of them. Sure, the Catrice Under Eye Brightener is one of the best color correctors on the market and hyped up for a good reason. But did we need a corresponding powder just for the under eye area? I certainly didn’t. But still, we now have the Catrice Under Eye Brightener Setting Powder so it’s time for a review.

Even though the product itself doesn’t appeal to me, I do like how Catrice has made this available in four shades from the start. The corrector first came out in just one shade and then the range was extended. At least we now get four shades in one go. You may have to go online though to find all four of them. Catrice has a tendency to only stock one or two shades in stores.
Review: Catrice Under Eye Brightener Setting Powder 010 Light Rose
At just €4.00 this powder really doesn’t break the bank. There is only 2.3 grams of product in the container though so if you were hoping this would also be great on the face I fear you would run out of it very very soon. That said, at this price point it is still quite affordable, but of course you never need a special powder just for your under eyes. So if you like the look of this, by all means give it a shot, but if you have a powder that works for you just stick to that.
What does this product have to offer?

This product is supposed to be a setting powder. It is aimed at mattifying your makeup and to make it last longer. This has some skincare ingredients in so it should also help improve the skin over time. The product is designed to help cover up uneveness and make it look brighter and lighter. This should even help camouflage your dark circles. It comes in a small powder container and comes with a sifter.
What does it look like in a swatch?

As you can see in the swatch the shade 010 Light Rose is a very light pale pink shade. So this isn’t too dark (which has happened to me with Catrice powders in the past), which is good, but I find it doesn’t blend in a very smooth way. You can see where the powder has sort of settled into place and it just wouldn’t blend. Does this last? Yes. Does it set your makeup in place? Also yes. But for me it’s just a touch too matte for it to work.
What does this look like on the face?

In the face I find you can clearly see how this mattifies the undereye. And while I like a powder to set that area of my face into place so it lasts all day, I find this one too mattifiying. It accentuates my fine lines, it can look cakey in places if your concealer is too dewy and it can soft of clump together in places. I would recommend this if you have oily skin, but if you have dry skin like me you may want to stay away.
Should you buy the Catrice Under Eye Brightener setting powder?

Does this product do what it promises to do? Yes! But sadly I feel this isn’t for me. It’s just too matte and drying for my skin. If you have oily skin you may love this and I love that they do four shades so this will work for many people. Because the shade is great for me. It looks stunning on at first, but it just sucks the life out of my makeup. I prefer a dewy look and this just eliminates that completely. Not my favorite at all.
