I am not an avid gamer. However, I do like to play a video game once in a while. When it comes to video games, I am rather picky: I only play Nintendo games (because they are cute and doable) and I prefer the standard Nintendo games, which means they have to feature some of the classic Nintendo characters such as Mario, Luigi, Donkey Kong and Yoshi.
I own three platforms for playing video games and they are all by Nintendo:
- Nintendo DS lite
- Nintendo Wii
- Super Nintendo 16 bit
My DS has been put away, as I hadn’t used it in a year. I am going to hang on to it though as I’m sure it will come in handy in the future. I tend to use my Wii and Super Nintendo interchangeably. The Wii is perfect because it has such an easy user interface and the Super Nintendo is just a nostalgic experience every single time.
Even though I don’t play a lot of video games, it is still something I enjoy very much and I have quite a few favorites. For the Wii those are: Mario Party 8, New Super Mario Bros Wii, Wii Play and Guitar Hero III. My two all time favorite video games are Super Nintendo games though: Super Mario Kart and Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island.
Mario Party 8 & New Super Mario Bros. Wii
I love both these games. The first one is fun because of all the mini games and you can play this for 15 minutes and quit right after it. It’s hilariously funny and easy to play and especially when you play it with friends it is something that will liven up any dull party. New Super Mario Bros. Wii is also a really fun game to play. If you liked the old Mario games on the other systems, then you will love this too: it has the same fun and challenging type of levels as the original Mario games, but with a bit of modern tweaking.
Now for the two non-Mario games. Wii Play is so much fun! Again, it’s a bunch of short mini games that teach you how to use the Wii Mote, but some of those games are also so much fun on its own! How about a newer rendition of Duck Hunt including that annoying dog? Or how about riding a cow that is knitted just like the rest of its surroundings? Guitar Hero III is also hilarious to play and sometimes even quite difficult. However, when I first got this, I was so into it that I played for about an afternoon and finished the game in time. I’m still trying to play all the songs well enough to earn 5 stars!
A classic that I think many people may know, if not have played in their younger years. It’s the original and to me, having also played the DS and Wii versions, there is just no other version that can beat this one. For me, there is just something about the music, the characters, the items, the levels, just everything that makes this game 100% fun.
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island
My favorite video game. It’s Yoshi and Baby Mario who are trying to save baby Luigi. You can eat eggs, shoot them at enemies and the music is super fun and happy. It’s a super fun platform game that is versatile and sometimes quite difficult, but so much fun. And Yoshi and Baby Mario are simply cute.
Q: What is your favorite video game?
