Youtubers of the moment

Youtubers of the moment

Every year I seem to discover a few new Youtube channels that I enjoy watching. I also unsubscribe from a few every year and it’s just that I like to keep things fresh and new. When a channel becomes too samey, I tend to become disinterested and then I know: it’s time for something new. So I scoured my recommendations list and found some new beauty and fashion channels to watch. These are 5 Youtubers I added to my subscription box in the past few months.

Lookbook: Spring trends in my wardrobe

Lookbook: Spring trends in my wardrobe

With a new season comes new trends. And I found out that I already own quite a lot of the spring fashion trends. Like I did last year, I figured it would be fun what the current spring trends are and how I would wear them. Where last year, I just took some pictures of all the different items, I decided to make a look book incorporating as many trends as I could. Of course not every trend suits my liking, but I created 5 outfits that I think suit me and the current fashion trends.

Words that have gone out of style

Words that have gone out of style

The best part about language is that it changes all the time. The words you say today, will not be the same as tomorrow’s. This cycle of new utterances has caused language to evolve over time. From big changes such as The Great Vowel Shift, which caused all vowels in English to pretty much change, to minor changes such as whether or not to write an Oxford comma: the rules of language are fluid at best. One area of language most sensitive to change? Vocabulary. Words go out of style more quickly than the latest fashions. I found 10 words that I think are a shame that they are no longer part of the English language.

Words that changed meaning

Words that changed meaning

One of my favorite things in the world? Not make up, not food, not dresses: it’s language. For as long as I can remember I have been fascinated with language. From how it shapes our understanding of the world to how it is such an inherently unique human feature, to how we learn it, to how we use it and how it is far more important than most people would dare to admonish. It should be no surprise then, that the profession I chose, was to become a language teacher. Because that is how I get to be what I enjoy most on a daily basis: a language nerd. And today I thought I’d indulge in this obsession on the blog. I’d like to introduce you to 6 English words we all know, but that didn’t start out meaning what they mean today.

Language nerd alert! Words change meaning?
Yes they do and I have 6 examples for you after the click!

Netflix series I want to watch

Netflix series I want to watch

I finally got myself a Netflix subscription. Yes, I know, I am way late to the party. But better late then never, no? I waded through some of their selections, but there is so much that sounds good that I don’t even know where to start. I already made my way through Narcos and I am now trying to pick and choose what to watch next. I have a few series that have caught my eye upon browsing, but if you have any other suggestions, then I am all ears. But here’s what I think I might watch next.

What Netflix series do you recommend?
