I’m not much of a movie buff, but when I like a movie, I can watch it over and over and over again. That is why I know the movies that I love practically by heart. Here are the 5 movies that deserve an honorable mention as the 5 I have seen the most.
1.) Mary Poppins
One of the first movies that I fell in love with is Mary Poppins. I love everything about this movie. For one it has Julie Andrews in one of her best roles and the songs are probably the most memorable. It also has Dick van Dyke in a great role, but with a lousy Cockney accent. It’s funny, happy, cheerful. In other words: the best feel good movie in the world and I still know this movie word for word.
2.) Sound of Music
My other most watched movie is the first ‘real’ movie I remember watching. Again, it features Julie Andrews and again, it’s a musical. I watched this before I even properly knew how to read subtitles and so my first memory of watching this is that I didn’t even know what the movie was about. All that I needed to draw me in were the songs. And again, that’s the best part of the movie.
3.) Twilight
This is my ultimate let’s-not-think movie. If I need to switch off my brain, I just dive into the world of Edward and Bella & co and think of nothing. Especially the first movie in the series is perfect for this purpose and that’s the one I’ve seen the most. I know every scene, every angle and every word. In particular those by Rob ‘Edward Cullen’ Pattinson as I watched the movie a number of times to find moments where you can hear he’s British.
4.) Ocean’s 11
Another movie series I love are the Ocean’s movies with George Clooney, Brad Pitt and many others. Again these are complete no brainer movies, which seems to be an ongoing theme here, but that’s what I prefer. I love the soundtracks of these movies and they are just allround entertaining. It’s just a bunch of a-list movie stars who are on a roll: from Matt Damon to Andy Garcia and George Clooney and even Catherina Zeta-Jones and Julia Roberts.
5.) Grease
This has got to be my MOST watched movie of all time. When I was 10 I watched this movie every day for about a year and I had a huge crush on John Travolta. I still know every word, every move and every scene. It’s etched into my brain. I bought it on DVD after years of not having seen it and only then I realized how bad this movie actually is. Nonetheless I watched this movie the most.
Other movies that I have seen more times than I can count:
- Layer Cake
- Gone in 60 Seconds
- Little Mermaid (Disney)
- Never Ending Story
