Pff is all I can say. Vacation was definitely what I needed and I am still recuperating from my trip. My jetlag is still not gone, but I haven’t tried very hard either. There was no need, so I will have to put some effort into getting back into the swing of things again. Here’s what I’m up to in the next few weeks.

(This is what I’ve been doing mostly these past few days)
Anywho, just a quick note to let you know that I will try my best to post something on a daily basis again as of today. I can’t promise anything yet though as I have quite a few things going on the next couple of weeks. I will try to write blogs in advance, but I’m not sure whether I’ll succeed so just a heads up on infrequent posts to come.
The main reason for this is because some major things are starting to happen. First of all, I will go to Pukkelpop, a music festival in Belgium. It will be my first festival and I’m super excited. But that does mean that I will be gone for 3 days and I highly doubt that I will want to write blogs while I’m there. I will make sure to write an elaborate blog post about it when I get back though.
Only 2 days after returning from Pukkelpop, I will get on a plane to Berlin. This time the trip is not leisure oriented though. I will be attending AND presenting at the 19th bi-annual Sociolinguistics Symposium. It is the most important conference on Sociolinguistics and my paper has been accepted. This is kind of a big deal for me, seeing that I hope to have a career in research one day and to just be accepted is an honor. I spoke to my supervisor/ co-author on Friday and he deems the presentation good enough, now the draft needs some tweaking and we’ll be good to go. I will be presenting my research on emoticons and superdiversity on a forum on Dutch social media site Hyves.
Again, I don’t think I’ll have much energy to blog while I’m in Berlin. The plan is to try and squeeze in a bit of shopping if possible and of course I will tell you all about my experiences afterwards. Following the Berlin trip I will attend my grandparents 60th wedding anniversary dinner and that’s also all around the same time I am starting my new job in Amsterdam. Once that gets going I’m sure I’ll be able to settle into a more of a routine, which will make it easier to blog regularly.
Right now I will just focus on taking it easy and not doing much of anything. Well except blogging that is. How is your summer coming along?
