Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn Part 2 Soundtrack tracklist

The time is finally upon us: the beginning of the end of the Twilight Saga. And with that last movie, to be released next month, comes one last try at making a stellar soundtrack. The Twilight Saga is known for its amazing soundtracks. It often showcases indie artists unknown to the great public. A tradition started by Catherine Hardwicke, the director of the first movie. Her inclusion of Muse’s Supermassive Blackhole on the first soundtrack sparked that band’s massive takeover in the US and many artists have followed in their footsteps (Florence & the Machine and Lykke Li).

Every single soundtrack has been anticipated and this being the final one, only makes it more special. The soundtrack isn’t out yet, but the tracklist has been released:

» Passion Pit, “Where I Come From”
» Ellie Goulding, “Bittersweet”
» Green Day, “The Forgotten”
» Feist, “Fire in the Water”
» The Boom Circuits, “Everything and Nothing”
» St. Vincent, “The Antidote”
» POP ETC, “Speak Up”
» Iko, “Heart of Stone”
» A Boy and His Kite, “Cover Your Tracks”
» James Vincent McMorrow, “Ghosts”
» Paul McDonald and Nikki Reed, “All I’ve Ever Needed”
» Reeve Carney, “New for You”
» Christina Perri, “A Thousand Years (Part Two)”
» Carter Burwell, “Plus Que Ma Prope Vie”

I was a bit disappointed in the last soundtrack, but there are definitely a few artists on here that made me clap my hands in joy. For the first time, I also don’t know more than a handful of artists on here and there is only one song I am not looking forward to hearing in advance. Yay!

The songs I’m looking forward to the most are by Passion Pit, Ellie Goulding, Green Day, Feist, St. Vincent and James Vincent McMorrow. These are all artists I already know and that I have been listening to for a while, and even went to see some of them live. Here’s a taste of their music.

Passion Pit – Take a Walk:

Ellie Goulding – Black & Gold (Sam Sparro cover):

Green Day – Good Riddance (Time of your life):

Feist – The Water:

Bon Iver & St. Vincent – Roslyn:

James Vincent McMorrow – Higher Love (Steve Winwood cover):

The song I look forward to the least is the one by Christina Perri. It sounds (judging by the title) that it will be a reprise of the song on last year’s soundtrack and it was one of my least favorite tracks. Other potentially interesting songs are the ones by Paul McDonald ft. Nikki Reed and Carter Burwell. Burwell scored the first Twilight movie and I loved it, so I’m curious to see what he’ll do here. And Nikki Reed is of course the actress who plays Rosalie. I heard she sang, but it will be nice to see how this turns out.

All I can say is: the countdown is on. What songs are you looking forward to?
