Merry X-mas & easy Christmas nail art

First of all: Merry Christmas to all who read this. Posts on this blog will be slow for the next couple of days as I’ll be out of town and won’t have much time to blog. Instead, I’m leaving you with my Christmas wishes (yes, I took the picture above. Doesn’t my town look pretty?) and my final Get Ready for X-mas post. Today we’re doing nails.

This is the nail look I created. I went with a shimmery golden polish and a sparkly deep red. Both are by China Glaze and are from a holiday collection 2 years or so ago. And here’s what I used and how I made it. It’s super quick and easy so try it out some time.

Step 1:

Paint your nails with a base coat first. I am trying out the nail hardener by Kruidvat right now. Then paint your nails a solid gold color. I’m using Midnight Kisses by China Glaze which looks like you’ve painted your nails with gold leaf. The nail polish appears patchy on the picture, but in real life you can’t see it.

Step 2:

On to the fun part! Take a different color nail polish, I’m using China Glaze’s Sugar Plums and tap some of it onto a plate. Using a small nail art brush (see Ebay) you now draw as thin a vertical line as possible on each of your nails. The thinner your brush, the thinner the line will be. Add a top coat to prevent chipping, making sure to wrap the topcoat over the top of your nails and you’re all set.

Finished result:

Meh, as you can see one of my nails broke so sorry for the awkwardness.
