Today’s post will be a quick one. I’m not gonna say too much about these songs. I already spent too much time writing texts behind a computer for one day. So I’m keeping it short but sweet. Just click and listen!
Doves – Jetstream
Album: Kingdom of Rust. Style: atmospheric rock. Sounds like: Radiohead, but a bit more rock
How I know it: bought the album on a whim, this is the opening track
Faithless – Insomnia (full version)
Album: Forever Faithless. Style: alternative dance. Sounds like: Faithless (duh!)
How I know it: spinning class! The intro is sick and the rhythm is great to ride a bike to. Try it!
The Neighbourhood – Female Robbery
Album: I’m Sorry. Style: dark moody indie rock. Sounds like: dark & depressing
How I know it: indie playlist, but it’s also been featured on The Vampire Diaries
Angus Stone – Broken Brights
Album: Broken Brights. Style: folk rock/ pop. Sounds like: Angus & Julia Stone, singer songwriter
How I know it: I made it my personal goal to own all albums containing this magnificent artist. So yeah, I have his album.
Chromatics – These Streets Will Never Look the same
Album: Kill for love. Style: new wave/ electro. Sounds like: something that could have been made in the 80s, but updated to ‘now’.
How I know it: I downloaded the album. It is on my to buy list.
Alpines ft. Graze, Hoax – Gold
Album: ??? Style: electronic indie pop. Sounds like: Florence & the Machine & Lana Del Rey go electro with more drums to back them up
How I know it: one of my indie playlist finds.
James Vincent McMorrow – Ghosts
Album: Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2 Soundtrack (and also the deluxe edition 2 disc version of his album Early in the Morning, but then it’s a live version). Style: folk rock. Sounds like: waves washing onto the beach, fragile.
How I know it: I’ve been a JVM fan girl since I first heard a demo of If I Had a Boat. Saw him live in June 2012 and well I’m a bit of a twi-hard too.
Hope you enjoyed it and leave your current faves in a comment below! Have a great day.
