After daily posts towards the end of the year, I decided to take a bit of a breather for 2 days and didn’t blog. What better way to get back into the swing of things, then with another high end lipstick purchase. The minute I saw this amazingly bright orange toned red I had to have it. And so I did.
YSL Rouge pur Couture no. 50 Rouge Neon
This is my second YSL lipstick and I have to say that I love these lipsticks. The staying power is pretty okay and the texture is amazing. Plus the range has some great colors which aren’t too shiny. I am not a great fan of shiny lipstick and this amazing satiny finish veers towards matte, but still feels creamy on the lips.
The packaging is amazing. I’m usually no fan of gold, but these YSL lipstick make a welcome exception from the rule. The gold does start rubbing off if you keep these lipsticks in your stash. At least that’s what happened to the one I bought last year. But at least I have these pictures to go back to: smudge and scratch free.
What I fell in love with most is the color. Is it red or is it orange? Who can tell? I think the name Rouge Neon is very apt: it is indeed a neon red. It’s incredibly bright with a overwhelming orange undertone that immediately makes this a lipstick that one could expect in a spring or summer collection. But no YSL put it in their winter collection. I don’t mind though: it is a nice difference and adds a hint of brightness in these darker days.
Like I said, the texture of this lipstick is creamy and it has an almost matte finish. And look at that swatch! This is one swipe over my arm. That’s right: one swipe and BAM! in your face color. Plus this lipstick stained like no other lipstick I’ve ever tried before. I swatched this, had it on my arm for no more than 5 minutes and no make up remover or shower session was capable of taking this baby of my arm. As a result I walked around with a reddish stain on my lower arm for the next 2 days. Judging from that I think the staying power of this baby will be great.
Overall I think my instant love for this lipstick is most certainly justified. Amazing color, amazing texture, amazing staying power. This one’s a keeper!

echt een lipstick voor jouw! Ik vind de kleur prachtig, maar ik draag zelf bijna geen rode lipstick, ga liever voor roze.
Haha ja tis wel een Maaike kleurtje he? 😉 Ik begin roze lipstick nu ook wel leuker te vinden, dus wie weet: 2014 het jaar van de roze lipstick?
