MAC Alluring Aquatic & Candy Yum-Yum

Last week I did a bit of shopping in Amsterdam and while there I found myself veering into MAC. I was immediately taken with one of the eyeshadows from their current limited edition Alluring Aquatic and I was eyeballing their lipsticks as per usual. While trying on the eyeshadow with the make up artist she used another product from the line in combination with the eyeshadow and in the mean time one of my lovely readers came up to me to say hi. That was a first for me, but I thought it was really cool that someone came up to say hi, so thanks again for stopping by. I will show you now what I bought in this mini MAC shoplog & review, featuring two Alluring Aquatic products as well as the super gorgeous lipstick in Candy Yum-Yum.

These are the products I took home: Alluring Aquatic Extra Dimension Eye Shadow in Sea Worship, Alluring Aquatic Cream liner pencil in Black Line and Matte lipstick in Candy Yum-Yum. If you read on below you’ll see why I love these products so much.

MAC Alluring Aquatic Extra Dimension Eye Shadow Sea Worship

First up is the Extra Dimension eye shadow in Sea Worship. Alluring Aquatic is another limited edition line which features Extra Dimension products. I also own a Mineralized Skin Finish and blush with this texture and finish, but I hadn’t tried any of the eyeshadows yet. The minute I walked up to the counter and swatched this color I fell in love. One of my favorite MAC eyeshadows is Green Smoke. This is a lustre eyeshadow with a deep olive tone. Lustre eyeshadows by MAC are a bit of a pain to work with though and I tend to only wear it in my crease. Sea Worship is also an olive green eyeshadow but the shimmer of it more vibrant and the texture as smooth as butter. Plus it comes in the most gorgeous limited edition packaging MAC has put out in a long time. Compared to Green Smoke, I find Sea Worship to be more of a golden olive which is easier to blend and build up in intensity.

MAC Alluring Aquatic Cream liner pencil Black Line

The second thing I got was this Pearlglide Intense Eyeliner in Black Line. This is the creamiest pencil I’ve ever laid my hands on and goes perfectly with Sea Worship. Black Line is described by MAC as a black with a golden pearl shimmer, but I find it more of a deep olive green tone on my swatch which you can find below. The MUA smudged this under Sea Worship and it made for the most gorgeous smokey eye which not only befits my eye shape, but also brings out a hint of green in my natural eye color. This is a great pencil to give any eye look a bit more oomph.

MAC Matte lipstick in Candy Yum-Yum

Last but not least, I bought Candy Yum-Yum. I was also eyeing up Lady Danger, but I found it a bit too orange and not something I would wear during the coming months. Don’t get me wrong, I love my orange toned reds, but I tend to wear them most during fall rather than summer. And also before finishing applying this onto my lips, the MUA said: I already know which one you’ll choose. And I had to agree with her: Candy Yum-Yum packs that bit of extra punch which goes nicely with my slightly pale complexion and freshens up any look. Candy Yum-Yum is a neon pink matte lipstick which is very similar to YSL Tropical Pink which I already own. Candy Yum-Yum however, has two things the YSL one doesn’t have: great lasting power and a matte finish.

Close ups of the eye look and the lipstick on my eyes and lips and a full face shot. Mind you: I took these pictures after hours of wearing this and a full day of wearing my other make up. If things look a bit worse for wear: that’s why. I think I was at the MAC store around 2 – 2.30 PM and I took these pictures a full 5 – 6 hours later after having plenty to drink and dinner. I’m actually glad I took these pictures though. I can use them as a reference to recreate this simple yet super effective eyelook. I should practice bringing up my base shadow color as much as in these pictures. I think it looks really nice on me but it’s something I always forget to do. Here’s to a good reminder!

What do you think of my most recent MAC purchases?
