Travel make up look

Whenever I travel, I keep the make up I take with me to a minimum. Especially on trips where packing light is of the essence. Unlike many other make up and beauty loving gals, I do not pack 6 bags filled with products, drag along half my brush collection and bring a different eyeshadow palette for every day of the trip. No, I like to keep things simple, take as few products as possible and like to take things along that I can use as is.

Apart from the fact that I don’t like to add too much weight to my bag, I just can’t really be bothered to do an elaborate face of make up when I’m on vacation. I tend to wear little to no make up on days off any way, so when I’m on vacation and I do want to wear make up I like going easy on myself. I tend to use products that are either multifunctional or are super easy to apply and require little to no brush work.

I use BB cream on my face and a bit of concealer. Both can easily applied using your fingers. A dab of cream eyeshadow will do the trick on the eyes and cream blush or a very compact one will give you a pop of color on the cheeks. For lips I go with no frills products that require little attention to apply and which I do not care about if they’d break or get lost. So not expensive Dior lipsticks, but liquid lipsticks by Catrice and Essence and lipbalm sticks by NYC. The only thing for which I’m using a brush is my face powder and that’s that.

In this look I’ve used the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Pink Gold. It gives a bit of a fresh look to the eyes and is applied in a jiffy. I wear nothing on my lower lashline but I’ve tightlined my upper lashline using a pencil liner by Estee Lauder. For cheeks I swear by the little blush pots by Bourjois. They are really small, come with a brush (which is okay for on the go) and are super easy to work with. For brows I also go with a pencil as powder requires bringing a brush. I simply like to eliminate as many steps from the entire process as possible. And what you get is a quick and easy to achieve look that is easy to maintain and keeps you looking fresh no matter how long you’ve been on a plain, train or bus.

What make up products do you use when travelling?

  1. […] Make up wise I kept things very simple. Whenever I’m travelling I keep my make up very minimal and I try to use products for which I need hardly any brushes. I was lucky to get a mini Dior mascara a while ago with a purchase and the mini Primer Potion came with a palette I believe. Cream shadow is my go to eyeshadow on vacation because it’s very easy to just pop it on. Lipstick wise I went with liquid type lipsticks. I didn’t want any of my nice lipsticks to melt in hot trains or hotel rooms. If you care to see a travel make up look, I posted one not too long ago. […]
