Dress up | Dress down

For this week’s fashion blog post I thought it would be fun to show you how I style up key pieces in two different ways. Because sometimes you get stuck when you stand in front of your closet and you don’t know what to wear. But by being clever any item in your wardrobe can be made appropriate for different occasions.

1.) Highwaisted jeans

Highwaisted denim: Topshop Jamie jeans
White t-shirt: H&M
Black sneakers: Converse
Black tee: Forever 21
Blazer: H&M
Black high heel: Van Haren

A good pair of denim blue jeans that fit you just right can easily be taken from day to night by making a few changes. I love my jeans to be highwaisted as it the most flattering on my body shape. Pair it with a white tee and sneakers for a super casual look. Pair it with a black blazer and black heels for an instant business casual vibe.

2.) LBD

Black dress: H&M
Denim blouse: H&M
Leopard print shoes: H&M
Red belt: H&M
Statement necklace: Primark
Peep toe heels with bow: Madden Girl

Dresses make great outfits as you can just throw them on and your outfit can be all ready in an instant. For a casual look, I combined it with an oversized men’s denim blouse and leopard print sneakers. For a more dressy look, a red belt, statement necklace and a pair of high heels which tie in with the belt, seal the deal.

3.) Maxi skirt

Burgundy maxi skirt: Asos
Stripy cropped top: H&M
Grey tartan print sneakers: Venice
Tan brogues: Ebay
Cream button down shirt: H&M

Maxi skirts are super fun for summer and this burgundy one from ASOS is one of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe. With a stripy cropped top, and a pair of sneakers you have a fun outfit which is perfect for a sunny pick nick. With brogues and an off white blouse the same skirt looks more dressy and gets an androgynous feel that counteracts the girliness of the skirt.

4.) Pencil skirt

Black pencil skirt: H&M
White t-shirt: Forever 21
Neon espadrilles: H&M
Baseball jacket: H&M
Nude faux suede court shoe: Van Haren
Pinstriped blazer: Miss Etam

A pencil skirt is that one item in your closet that is so much more than part of a boring office suit. Sure, you can pair it for that business chique look, but with a baseball jacket and neon espadrilles, a simple, neat skirt is taken to the next level. To keep a business look a pair of nude heels and a nude shirt with a black pinstriped blazer will keep you comfy while maintaining the look.

5.) The fun dress

Dress: Forever 21
White wedges: Van Haren
White blazer: H&M
Blue court shoe: Van Haren

Bold printed dresses never need anymore to them, but a good pair of shoes. It may seem more of a challenge to make this into a dressy outfit. For a casual outfit I would pair this with a massive pair of white wedges. That is pretty much all this dress needs to be a complete outfit. To make this more dressed up a white blazer and a change of shoe is all this dress needs.
