It’s been a while since I did one of these, but that’s mainly because I haven’t been taking many pictures. My old phone nearly died on me and my new one is great, but since I carry that in my bag instead of my coat pocket, I often find myself forgetting to take pictures these days. Nevertheless, I have gathered a few pictures that I want to share with you. Join me as I take you along a short overview of my life of the past 3 – 4 months.
One reason why I have been taking fewer pictures is because I am back at work and that leaves little time in the day for picture taking. I wake up before dawn and get home when dusk is already settling in. It does make for pretty sky pictures from the train though.
The other reason why I have been taking hardly any pictures the past few weeks is because I have been sick. By now I have been combating an ear infection for over two weeks. Thankfully, my doctor gave me some antibiotics and it’s on its way out by now, but I’ll be glad when this is over.
I got a haircut! You must have noticed already if you saw some of my beauty reviews. In fact, by now it’s time to go back to the hairdresser’s to get it refreshed. It is a fair bit shorter than it used to be and I love it. It does make for one look and that’s it, but I like that. It’s nice and simple and I haven’t had a bad hair day since.
I also watched all seasons of Suits. I am in love with Harvey Specter. ❤ But the finesse of a man that is Gabriel Macht isn’t my only reason for binge watching 4 1/2 seasons back to back in a matter of weeks. It’s a fast paced show with a good amount of humor and twisting story lines. After three seasons I thought the twists got a little too much for my liking (oh look we solved a case, oh heck no we didn’t) and season 4, with a slight change of scenery wasn’t my fave either. But come season 5, I feel this show is right back on track. I can’t wait for the second half to be released this winter.
An oldie but a goodie: my birthday presents to myself! I bought myself the collector’s edition of the Harry Potter paperbacks (now I have a version for reading and one that looks pretty on my shelf, yes, I am that obsessed). And I got myself a new camera. The majority of the pictures you are seeing on my blog these days have been taken with my new Samsung NX3000. I absolutely love it and it is definitely a step up from your average point and shoot camera.
My friend Yvonne lives in Germany and she saw an ad in her local paper for Burt’s Bees cosmetics and she asked me whether I wanted to try some. She got me 2 tinted lip balms and 4 lip shimmers (and some chocolate and samples as an extra treat <3). I had not seen these in stores anywhere yet, but I have seen these around V&D by now. Keep an eye out as the pictures have already been shot, all it takes is to write a review.
Just before I went on vacation, I laid out all of the eye shadow palettes I own. When I look at it all together like this is a lot and then to think I bought so many more palettes on vacation! But to my defense: I love eye shadow and I love testing it out and trying new shades. In fact there are at least 3 other palettes on my wishlist already. #sorrynotsorry
Come fall I love updating my wardrobe and I already posted a fall fashion wishlist a few weeks ago. I hope to make my first fall lookbook this week as I have vacation and provided I am 100% healed from this ear infection I have decided to spend some time blogging and putting on some outfits for you to see.
September marked the month in which I attended my first event because of my blog. Excited! I signed up to attend the opening of the new Van Gogh/ Munch joined exhibition in the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. It was an exhibit I would have wanted to go to regardless and my friend Jasmijn actually let me know it was coming over, so I asked her to join me. We saw the exhibition, drank cocktails and joined some of the special events they organized. Because not only did they have a new exhibition on, they also opened up a brand new part of the museum to the public for the first time. If you want to go see the exhibition: it is on until January/ February 2016.
Proof that I spent way too much money at Sephora last summer. I have officially been promoted to VIB.
What a way to round up my summer hols! Beers with friends in my favorite bar in Leiden: De Bonte Koe.
I played around a bit with make up in the last few days of my summer vacation. This is a look I created with the Urban Decay Vice 3 palette, which I got over summer. I am already pining after the newly released Vice 4. It is supposed to hit stores soonish. Fingers crossed I get my hands on it on time this time.
What I have mainly been doing apart from blogging, working and trying to get my butt back into the gym is reading. It has been less than 6 weeks since I posted my last Combined Review post, but I already have enough to post another one.
Ready to do some blogging! Everything set up and ready to go for making lip swatches.
I organized my stack of sweaters just in time before the cold weather. I bought a few new ones, but some of these I have had for years. There is another double stack just behind these. One stack is thinner sweaters which are more appropriate for spring and the second stack is prints and super thick knits.
One reason why I don’t mind getting up early to go to work: you get to see the gorgeous sunrise. Hello world and good morning!
Argh no! I already wrote it in yesterday’s review, but the closing on the packaging of the Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar palette is not that tight.
Ever since I bought so much make up over summer, I decided to take things easy and to not shop unless it was absolutely necessary. And I needed a new agenda for next year. The nail polishes I didn’t need of course, but when they sell these two things in the same store, I just couldn’t help it.
This seems eons ago, but it is less than 2 months ago that I was part of the Misslipgloss Brunch organized by Dutch beauty blogger Cynthia. I had a great time and I love this picture. We also received an outrageously well packed goody bag. Photo credit: Mariët Mons.
Sometimes budget make up does not disappoint. Catrice released another eyeshadow palette and it is great for creating every day looks such as this one. You can read the review for the Catrice Chocolate Nudes eye shadow palette by clicking here.
Last but not least, a picture from earlier this month. Leiden celebrated October 3rd again and I spent the night at friends as I live right in the middle of the festivities. Despite the mayhem, it does make for pretty pictures on early morning walks to the station.
What an update! I hope you have some sense of what I have been up to lately. Here’s to my taking more pictures more regularly so the next one won’t be such a long while. Enjoy your Sunday.
