March 2016 random favorites

It’s been a long time since I did a monthly favorites blog post, but I decided to bring them back. It is just a nice way of making myself more aware of those little things that I enjoy doing or using on a daily basis. Things that put a smile on my face, that sort of thing. It wasn’t that I didn’t have that, but after doing these types of posts for a year straight, I felt they became too repetitive. Yet, I think that showing you what I’ve been loving, no matter how samey it might be, is also a nice way to tell you a little something more about me, which is why I think it will be a nice little addition to the blog. On to my March 2016 favorites.

8 of my favorites… 2 of them didn’t fit into the picture

As always, my favorites are quite random. From beauty to books, to some albums I’ve been listening to and some of my favorite fashion items: I throw it all in the mix. This month has been very much about transitioning from that wintery feel to spring. I’ve been updating my wardrobe (I’ll be recording a collective haul today, so I hope to have that up soon), been keeping up to date with my Goodreads reading challenge and switched my base out for something more light and dewy. Here’s what I’ve been loving.

MAC Satin lipstick in Brave

The first beauty item I would like to share with you is one of my new favorite lipsticks. Brave is the first Satin lipstick by MAC I have ever tried and it has made me crave more. I’m already eyeing up Twig and Captive and possibly even Rebel, as I really enjoy the formula of this. It is creamy, yet nothing too shiny. It is more comfortable as a matte but longer lasting than a cream lipstick. In short, it is the best of both worlds and the color is simply stunning.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians

To try and keep up with my Goodread challenge, I decided to pick up some fun, easy, breezy books. Percy Jackson has given me just that. These books were a great mix of dry humor, Greek mythology and action packed plot lines. I already reviewed the first two books, but by now I have finished this boxset. Yes, I was that obsessed that I read the last three books in just over a week. Reviews will be coming up in my March book review.

Diiv – Is the Is Are

Is the Is Are is the second album by New York based garage/ shoegaze/ psychedelic rock band Diiv. I absolutely loved their first one, Oshin, and this release was one of my most anticipated music releases for 2016. And it does not disappoint. Since I bought this album, I have been listening to it almost every single day. Some of my favorite tracks are Under the Sun, Incarnate Devil and lead single Dopamine. I am so glad to have a ticket to see them live next month!

Bobbi Brown Corrector in Light Bisque

You will have seen me use this product in yesterday’s make up video. These past weeks I just cannot get enough of this product. I layer it underneath my concealer and POOF gone are the dark circles. I find it allows me to use less concealer and as a result there is less creasing underneath my eyes. Great product if you need a quick pick me up to make you look less tired and more awake instantly.

Twinings Intensely Buttermint tea

Tea wise I’ve been a bit at a standstill. I have been more into drinking water and (wait for it….) coffee. I know that last bit is a true shocker. Though I only drink coffee on workday mornings and while I am at work, I am not a total addict, but nonetheless I’ve been converted. Despite my sudden love for coffee, I still love my teas of course. I used up all of my Tea Pigs green tea with mint and so I opened this pack and completely fell in love again. This is such a soothing, uplifting tea. It has a hint of sweetness, combined with a creamy mouthfeel (like you’ve added a splash of cream or milk to it) and a refreshing touch of mint.

Roll neck jumpers

Turtle necks, polo necks, roll necks, whatever you want to call these things, but I absolutely love them. In my last collective haul, I showed you a few already, but by this time the high neckline and with that roll necks have completely been integrated into my wardrobe. The ones you see here are all from H&M and I absolutely adore them. They totally go with my thin sweater with skirt aesthetic that I have been digging these past few months. Which is probably why I got quite a few of them.

Savages – Adore Life

Another band I’ve been listening to is Savages. I first discovered this all girl post punk 80s throwback inspired rock band at Pukkelpop a few years ago. They were amazing live, then my friends bought me their album for my birthday and I was hooked. Adore Life is their second album and possibly even better than their first. I bought the album after seeing them life 2 weeks ago as I knew then again why I loved them so much.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Nude foundation

My current favorite foundation is the Rimmel Lasting Finish Nude foundation. I dug it out of the pits of my stash as I knew this was very light and so I hadn’t been able to truly wear it yet. Despite the pale shade (which is a good thing!), I find this gives off a very natural finish. It leaves my skin looking natural, yet gives me the coverage I like and need.

Topshop Jamie Jeans

For years, Topshop has been making my favorite jeans. I own a few pairs of Leighs, Joni, but my absolute favorites have to be the Jamie’s. Lately, I’ve been finding myself gravitating towards jeans again a little bit more. I love how versatile these are, especially in this stonewash mid blue denim shade. I used these jeans to show some of my favorite jeans combos in this blog post.

What have you been loving this month?

  1. De lipstick ziet er heel goed uit en ik ben nu eigenlijk ook wel heel benieuwd naar de thee 🙂 Dat merk is dacht ik te koop bij de Aldi of heb ik dat verkeerd?
