3x NYX Berry lips

Berry lips in spring? You must be thinking I’m crazy, but I don’t think that berry lips should be kept for fall and winter seasons only. Berries can be bright and bold instead of just dark and vampy. Granted it is easy to pull in into that dark and vampy vibe, but with a fresh minimal make up otherwise, with a pop of bright pink on the cheek and a neutral eye, I think it can work even for spring time. And NYX has 3 very perfect berry lip products that can do that trick and give you that look.

NYX is one of those brands that is super affordable and that has good quality products. I swear by their HD eyeshadow base and one upon a time I owned quite a substantial collection of their single shadows. They do some great drugstore alternatives of higher end products such as their Tame & Frame brow pomade. But what they are possibly best known for are their lip products. I already showed you one of their Mega Shine lipglosses along with a matte lipstick and a butter gloss last summer. Now it’s time to show you some more.

NYX Simply Vamp Lip Cream Aphrodisiac

The first lip product I would like to show you is the Simply Vamp Lip Cream in Aphrodisiac. Love the name of this, but that’s of course not why you buy a product (or is it?! yep I’m guilty of that). I bought this because I already love the Revlon and Hema lip product that come in the same twist up pencil format. This NYX version retails for $6.50 each and is available in 6 different shades. Aphrodisiac is a great color: it shows up a lot more intense in the packaging than it is in real life, as you can see in the swatch and on my lips below. The biggest benefit of this product is that it is so easy to apply: the pencil shape makes for a quick and simple application every time.

NYX High Voltage lipstick in Wine & Dine

The High Voltage lipsticks is a lipstick I heard lots of great things about. Especially this shade, Wine & Dine is favorited by at least one of my favorite Youtubers, EmilyNoel83. It is available in 22 different shades and retails for $6.00. These lipsticks should be very opaque and have a dramatic color pay off. Like the previous lipstick, this color looks a lot more intense in the packaging than on. It is a wine color with a good deal of pink added in the mix, which makes this look a lot more fresh and vibrant. I think out of the three lipsticks I am showing you here today, this one is especially the type of berry lip that is wearable year round.

NYX Intense Butter Gloss in Black Cherry Tart

On to the darkest, most in your face, intense shade of the bunch. Black Cherry Tart is one of 24 available shades and one of the darkest shades in the bunch. NYX recently launched 12 new shades, which include Blueberry Tart which looks like it could be even more intense judging by the color indications on the website. This is also an Intense Butter Gloss: the more opaque, more glossy lipstick like counterpart to the ever so popular Butter Glosses. It most boasts to be a very intensely pigmented lipgloss at $6.00 a pop.

On the swatches you can clearly see the differences in tone and texture of these products. The Simply Vamp Lip Cream is a nearly matte finish. The color of Aphrodisiac is not the intense purple the packaging suggests, but mainly resembles a raisin type color: a brownish red/ purple berry.

Wine & Dine in the middle has a little more shine, but it still not very creamy. If I were to compare this to a finish in MAC, I would compare this to the Amplified lipsticks. It still feels very comfortable on the lips and wear time is probably best of the three. The color is a vibrant pink toned berry that leans towards a deep pomegranate shade.

Intense Butter Glosses are well, intense. It is super glossy and kind of slides around a bit. For a color this intense, probably not the best, but the deep aubergine shade definitely picks this up a notch for me. I don’t think I’ve ever come across a lipgloss that is intense as a lipstick.

Full face you can see the different effects of the shades even more clearly. Aphrodisiac is probably the most every day shade out of the three. Because of the brown undertone it pulls a bit more neutral and is the most versatile shade to wear. My favorite one has to be Wine & Dine. I love these bright berry shades the best on me and the fact that this wears for a good 5 – 6 hours without touch ups is another reason why this is a straight up favorite. Surprisingly, Black Cherry Tart is a shade I can pull off. Its glossy finish makes for a very high fashion and intense look, but as long as I don’t have too much going on make up or fashion wise in my look, I feel I can get away with it.

NYX does it again: make great lip products that is. Each product here has something going for it. From ease of use, to color intensity and from longevity to color selection: I love each product and each for different reasons. If I had to recommend you getting just one, or something else from one of these lines, I would suggest the High Voltage line. It comes with 22 shades and the formula is simply the better one of the three. But to be honest, I think that you cannot go wrong when you buy a NYX lip product. So far, I have yet to find a NYX lip product that is bad.
