It’s the final day of the month and you know what time it is. It is time for Music of the Moment! I have a nice selection of some brand new and some not so new tracks for you again that I have handpicked from all of the wonderful indie offerings I was able to find in the past few months. I only just recently waded through piles of songs that were released between now and January, so you will have to wait a bit for me to update you on that. However, I am also excited to share with you some tracks by some brand new artists that I think deserve some love.
So much music, so little time…
Adventure Club – Limitless (feat. Delaney Jane)
I wasn’t sure anymore how I found this, but when I looked it up for this post, I figured out that I found this on Youtube on Mr. Suicide Sheep’s channel. This might as well have come from a gym session, as these dubstep type of songs are fairly popular for using in some the more hardcore cardio classes I take. I love how this track still has a lot of melody to it, while applying those break beats to the max.
DIIV – Under the Sun
This past month I’ve been all about listening to some new albums what were released in recent months. By far my favorite is DIIV’s latest. I already mentioned them in my favorites post last Sunday. This song in particular is one of my favorites and I am glad that it is one of the singles.
Laura Jean Anderson – Righteous Girl EP
A new artist I was introduced to through my blog’s inbox, is Laur Jean Anderson. I hadn’t heard of her yet, but when I gave her new EP Righteous Girl a listen I couldn’t help but love her style. She fuses a good deal of Americana with a hint of country and a sprinkle of pop, combined with great song writing. Oh and did I mention she has a great voice? You can also download the tracks of this EP for free via Soundcloud if you want to, so click that link and go get yourself some great music.
Eric Prydz – Generate
This song I know via my gym, spinning class to be exact. I absolutely adore this track. Reminds me of the good old Trance days. It has that same epic vibe, yet feels current and timeless at the same time. You do have to like your repetitive house music in order to like this, but I love how the beat just drives this one forward and keeps going like the energizer bunny.
Island Science – XII
You know I am all about that dreamy poppy indie electro type of music. This one is slightly trippy at first but merges into something far more melodic with great harmonies and an overall cute vibe. It is just a super chilled out track and again, this can be downloaded for free, if you’re interested.
Oh Wonder – Heart Hope
I’m pretty sure I posted something by Oh Wonder before, but not in recent times. All throughout 2015 this boy/ girl duo released one of their dreamy indie pop songs every month. That release path culminated in the release of their first album. And now that’s out, they just keep going! This one came out at the end of last year, but I think this has to be my favorite Oh Wonder track yet.
Feels – If You’d Meet Me Tonight (Jori Hulkkonen remix)
Another track that popped up in my blog inbox, was another one by Feels. I already included their EP in my previous Music of the Moment and this remix is another gem. It has a nice beat and an overall cool vibe. I always find remixes quite tricky. They are never just right, but this one is the exception to the rule. I think this is a very well executed remix and the fact that it comes with a free download is just another added bonus not?
NONTA – Pulse
Now for something slightly different. This track is a bit more singer songwriter and organic in nature. I mean after all those tracks infused with electro it feels nice to have an actual guitar in a song again. I love how this builds up from a very quiet acoustic feel to a full blown rock track. There is just something epic about it that I enjoy.
Stephen – Crossfire
One of my more recent discoveries is Stephen. I featured one of his tracks earlier this year too and I just keep loving the stuff he comes out with. Good beats, good vocals, good lyrics and just an overall catchy vibe that has a hint of darkness and mystery to it. This is what Hosier’s Take Me To Church might sound like if he were to use a drum machine and distorted vocals. Ab.So.Lu.Te.Ly LOVE this.
Tep No – The Last Ones Standing
For this month’s final track I have to say shame on me. Tep No is another artist that I have been loving more and more as I hear more and more. This track has over 1,000,000 views on Youtube for a reason. And yet, I have failed to feature him on here until now. From the subtle horn melody line to the relaxed beats and the catchy lyrics: this guy needs more views and popularity for sure.
What have you been listening to this month?
