Collective book haul

I bought some books! Yep just before the end of the year I’ve decided to treat myself to an online book order. I actually completed my 50 book challenge last week and figured I needed to treat myself to celebrate the occasion. Just to make it truly worth your while, I decided to lump in some other books that I bought left and right over the past few months to make it fairly epic. Those books I’m holding in the picture? That’s roughly half of them. So let’s get to it!

There is no rhyme or reason to this haul really. I just ended up buying anything that grabbed my interest. From the make up book that the Pixiwoo sisters released this fall to some complete series and some continuations of some of my favorite book series out there. Shout out to Cassie, who recommended I read Emma Cline’s The Girls.

Books mentioned:

  • Oliver Tearle – The Secret Library
  • Sam & Nic Chapman – Face
  • Julian Fellowes – Belgravia
  • Sarah J Maas – Empire of Storms
  • Jonathan Stroud – Lockwood & Co The Creeping Shadow
  • Virginia Woolf – The Waves
  • Angela Carter – Night at the Circus
  • William Ritter – Jackaby Series: Jackaby, Beastly Bones, Ghostly Echoes
  • Alex Grecian – The Harvest Man
  • Jessie Burton – The Muse
  • Graham Moore – The Last Days of Night
  • Maggie Stiefvater – Raven Cycle’: The Raven Boys, Dream Thieves, Blue Lily Lily Blue, The Raven King
  • Emma Cline – The Girls
  • Brent Weeks – The Black Prism (The Lightbringer Series)
  • Marissa Meyer – Stars Above & Fairest
  • Taherah Mafi – Shatter Me series: Shatter Me, Unravel Me, Ignite Me, Unite Me
  • Rick Riordan – Magnus Chase and the Sword of Summer, Magnus Chase and the Hammer of Thor
  • Alexandra Bracken – Passenger
  • Andrew Michael Hurley – The Loney
  • M. J. Carter – The Strangler Vine
  • Leigh Bardugo – Crooked Kingdom
  • Alexandra Bracken – The Darkest Minds Trilogy: The Darkest Minds, Never Fade, In the Afterlight

What is the last book you bought?

  1. I got myself a Stephen King’s “The Green Mile”. I’ve seen the movie and it was absolutely heartbreaking and tearjerking, so obviously, masochist like I am, I decided to read a book too. I’ll start it in January.

    • I find reading the book after I’ve seen the movie very anticlimactic most of the time so I usually try not to. I have to be very much in love with a story in order to do that.

      • I know what you mean. I absolutely loved The Devil Wears Prada movie, so I bought the book. That was one of my worse reading decisions ever. I hated the book because it wasn’t anything what I was expecting it to be. The people there were so much more meaner and uglier from inside out. I was disappointed in the ending. Another book that I didn’t like was 50 shades of Grey, but the movie was pretty good. It was still bad because there isn’t much of a story there, but movie as a movie itself was good. I hope you understand what I’m trying to say with my perfect explaining skills haha

      • I haven’t but the writing style of the 50 shades was awful. I just couldn’t count anymore how many times she mentioned her “inner goddess” or referred him as “50 shades” 😂

  2. Well, I hope you like The Girls. I know I did. I loved the true crime element & maybe found a little bit of myself in the loneliness of the protagonist.
What a haul! I’m going to have to check out some of these titles.
Have you read The Night Circus? I can’t remember if you’ve mentioned it or not, but I think it’s another you would enjoy.
