Colab dry shampoo

Colab has finally made its way to The Netherlands! This dry shampoo was developed together with Ruth Crilly of A Model Recommends and had been out in the UK for some time. Now I’m  not a massive lover of dry shampoo. My hair is quite dry to begin with and other dry shampoos that I had tried just made my hair look poofy and brittle. Think a Poodle that hasn’t had its hair cut. That look. Not cute. Nor pretty. So I was pleasantly surprised when I tried this.

Colab Dry Shampoo Paradise

I mean of course I picked this up because it had flamingos on the bottle (let’s keep it real here), but cute packaging aside, this is genuinely a great product. A bottle of 200 ml costs €4.99 at Kruidvat, which is the only place where I have spotted this so far. It has already been on sale too, so if you think 5 euros is a bit much, you can just wait for one of those and stock up.

Affordable price aside (the only other dry shampoo I truly love costs close to €12): why is this such a great dry shampoo?

I am not sure how to describe what this product actually does. But I love it! It keeps my roots nice and fresh, while adding volume and texture at the same time. And it doesn’t make my hair look dry, brittle and poofy! That’s a first for me, because most dry shampoos are so intense that they just suck all the moisture right out of my hair and if they don’t than they don’t work for me as a dry shampoo, but only as a styling product.

This one does it all! The Colab dry shampoo not only cleans my hair and ensures I can forego washing my hair too often, it also works as a styling product. I am currently trying to let my hair grow out some more again and that means simply not going to see a hair dresser for some time. I am now at that point where my hair is simply a limp mess if I try to wear it hanging loose, but this has added the texture and hold my hair needs to add a little bit more oomph.

What took some getting used to was the spray nozzle. Wow so much power! There is quite a bit of product that comes out and the spray is really powerful. You do not want to keep this too close to your head when spraying it. That is great as it gets the job done quickly, but I also feel that it may be using up unnecessary product. I have only used this for a few weeks and my can has already started to feel quite empty. So despite this being cheap, it is also a product that runs out quite quickly it seems.

But that is about the only downside I can think of. I even like the fragrance, which is fresh and clean, but not too overpowering. I am not a fan of heavily scented things because of my asthma. I also dislike mixing fragrances together and I usually apply a perfume of some sort in the morning and I hate it when that clashes with something else. This scent is present, but not overbearing and I find it disappears quite quickly from the air. Yet my hair still feels and smells fresh regardless of the scent disappearing.

The texture of the dry shampoo feels quite coarse, so that is something to bear in mind, but overall this product is amazing. I still have a few backups lying about that I want to use up first (I’m trying to use up as much as I can before I move = less packing!), but once those run out I will certainly buy another one of these. Best dry shampoo I have ever tried. Period.

What dry shampoo is your favorite?

  1. Ooohh ik twijfelde laatst zo maar ben toen toch voor batiste gegaan, ondanks dat deze goedkoper is. Volgende keer deze proberen!

  2. This is my favourite dry shampoo!!! I like the volumizing formula (not sure if you have the 2 formulas there? There’s a sheer one and a volume one) I’ve not seen this Paradise scent – I want it to come here right now! The bottle is so cute. But yes, that nozzle is enough to clear off a table of crumbs! 😆
